About this role:

To lead the development of Academy Goalkeepers within the U9 – U16 age groups and lead day to day coaching and development of goalkeepers within the U18 age group.


To review the current U9 – U16 Academy Goalkeeping Philosophy and deliver/implement this philosophy into a working model
To deliver and implement a strategy for the Academy goalkeeping department
Use a coaching method that promotes energy, enthusiasm and educates the individual players
Coach the U18 goalkeeping players on a daily basis whilst creating an effective working relationship with all U18 Players, Coaches and Staff
To drive and nurture a positive culture when coaching the U18 goalkeepers during the training week and on a match day
Schedule on a weekly basis the YDP and FDP GK coaches that effectively supports the training and games programme
To work collaboratively with the U21 GK coach
To support the U18 GKs development through the use of video analysis (training and match days)
Monitor and evaluate player development and provide feedback with players/parents within a collective process
To contribute to and support the U18 goalkeepers with their Individual Development Plans and support the other goalkeeping coaches with this process
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff and players, promoting their well-being whilst maintain professional boundaries
To contribute to the player recruitment process where required
To contribute to retention decisions where required
Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.

Experience & Skills:

Excellent leadership skills
Ability to anticipate and prioritise time and workload effectively
A highly driven individual who wants to support the development of young aspiring players
Be able to connect and build affective relationships with players
Demonstrate curiosity to learning and developing themselves
To maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times
Be able to remain calm under pressure
At least 3 years’ experience of working at a professional Academy
Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team


UEFA B Licence
UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence
FA Youth award
FA Advanced Youth Award (Desirable)
FA safeguarding children (current)
FA Level 2 Emergency First aid in Football (EFAIF)
