Job Introduction
From the World Cup to the Olympics, whether its Premier League football, The Ryder Cup, International Cricket or the top Tennis tournaments BBC Sport is at the heart of the worlds major sporting events. Our Radio Sport and Interactive teams make sure that every day, throughout the year our audiences are served with world class coverage of the live sport events as well as providing all the stories surrounding every sport.
The Radio Sport department provides all the sports event and programme content for both 5 Live and 5 Lives sister station Radio 5Sports Extra. We are also the production team that has created and delivered award winning podcasts,That Peter Crouch Podcast,Football DailyandRugby Union Weekly.
We want BBC Sports output to reflect and understand the audiences we serve - for example, the different geographical regions of the UK and the experience of people from underrepresented groups (eg people from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, people with lived experience of disability, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio economic groups). We are therefore actively seeking individuals with skills or experience that can help contribute towards ensuring we maximise the diversity of our coverage and content.

Role Responsibility
The successful candidate will help bring 5 live sports programming to life on digital platforms, from the Monday Night Club to the 5 live boxing podcast and behind the scenes content capturing at live sporting events.Working with others to develop treatments of the highest quality you will deliver creative and engaging content; working with our On Air talent producers; using editing tools you will also have experience of packaging and editing digital material for social media.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidatewill need to have experience of working in social media / digital production and be able to demonstrate strong editorial judgement and solid journalistic skills. You should have a passion for sport and be able to edit quickly using online tools, as well as write accurately and succinctly.Experience of how to find and generate trending sports content/stories/themes is also essential to promote the BBCs Radio Sport and 5 Live content.
A wide knowledge of sport is a must but we would be interested to hear of any specialist knowledge and interest.
The job will often be unsupervised and require a large degree of initiative and creativity, with the high editorial, journalism and production values expected by the BBC. You will have valid experience of making strong editorial judgements with the ability to make sound decisions in a pressurised ‘live broadcasting environment.
While this is their primary role, you may also be asked to work across different programmes, outputs or platforms.
This is not an entry level role, we're looking for candidates with experience within the area, please review the criteria.
