ROLE DESCRIPTION

Be part of our journey...
Location: St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Criminal Record Check: DBS Enhanced with Child’s Barred List
Want to help make a positive impact with young people of our community?
Saints Foundation bring Southampton FC to the heart of the community, using the power of the club and our passionate team to help fulfil individual potential and make Southampton a better place to live for all. Through our Pathways pillar, our aim is to ‘Support people and their families, regardless of risk factors or perceived barriers, to create a community that is safe for all, where everyone can contribute and feels accepted’.
What will you be doing?
You will be working closely with the Interventions Coordinator and be responsible for the delivery of our Saints Switching Play programme, as part of Saints Foundation’s ‘Pathways’ area of work. The role will involve delivering our evidence-based sport and physical activity projects, supporting young people in the youth justice system, which aims to reduce the number of young people engaging in offending behaviour and at risk of becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
Your desk will be based at St Mary’s Stadium, in the city centre; but no day is the same, you’ll get to work at venues off site where you’ll deliver your sessions, so access to your own transportation will be required.
Is this you?
You will have previous experience of engaging with hard-to-reach young people with a view to diverting young people away from violence and criminal activity by empowering them to develop skills and attitudes to make positive life choices. You see yourself as an approachable, motivating person who loves to be organised and brings enthusiasm to every session.
Person Specification:

Have a proven track record of delivering successful interventions to vulnerable young people at risk of anti-social behaviour and/or risk of NEET, through either one-to-one or group based environments.

Hold or be working towards a UKCC Level 2 in a sporting qualification, preferably boxing or gym instructor.

An awareness and understanding of wider issues such as exploitation, gangs, domestic violence and community violence.

An understanding of the challenges faced by young people living in Southampton.

Desirable to hold or be working towards the Youth Work Level 2 qualification.

What we can do for you
Giving you the right balance in your life is important to us, and our benefits are designed to complement this – you’ll get 25 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday, 2 free match tickets for every home league game, free breakfast and afternoon snacks on site, discounts at local shops and restaurants, an Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first aiders for when things get tough, to specialist support with professional development and access to a world of internal and external training courses and professional qualifications.
