Want to help make a positive impact with young people of our community?

Saints Foundation bring Southampton FC to the heart of the community, using the power of the club and our passionate team to help fulfil individual potential and make Southampton a better place to live for all. Through our ‘Pathways’ area of work, we support those with risk factors to engage positively in their community, reducing the risk of offending and re-offending.

What will you be doing?

You will be working closely with the Interventions Coordinator and be responsible for the delivery of our Saints Switching Play programme, as part of Saints Foundation’s ‘Pathways’ area of work. The role will involve delivering our evidence-based sport and physical activity projects, supporting young people in the youth justice system, which aims to reduce the number of young people engaging in offending behaviour and at risk of becoming Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).

Your desk will be based at St Mary’s Stadium, in the city centre, within the buzz of the Saints Foundation office, where there is free parking available, and you’ll be provided with branded uniform supplied by Hummel. But no day is the same, you’ll get to work at venues off site where you’ll deliver your sessions, so access to your own transportation will be required.

Is this you?

You will have previous experience of engaging with hard-to-reach young people with a view to diverting young people away from violence and criminal activity by empowering them to develop skills and attitudes to make positive life choices. You see yourself as an approachable, motivating person who loves to be organised and brings enthusiasm to every session.

Person Specification:

Have experience of developing relationships with hard-to-reach young people who are/at risk of becoming involved in offending behaviour or youth violence.
Have a proven track record of delivering successful interventions to hard-to-reach young people at risk of anti-social behaviour and/or risk of NEET, through either one-to-one or group based environments.
The ability to adapt sessions to deal with changing situations and situations of a challenging nature.
An awareness and understanding of wider issues such as exploitation, gangs, domestic violence and community violence.
Experience of reporting and addressing safeguarding concerns.
Qualified to a minimum Level 2 Youth Work, and/or a NGB recognised sporting Level 2 qualification.

What we can do for you

Giving you the right balance in your life is important to us, and our benefits are designed to complement this – you’ll get 25 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday, 2 free match tickets for every home league game, free breakfast and afternoon snacks on site, discounts at local shops and restaurants, an Employee Assistance Programme and mental health first aiders for when things get tough, to specialist support with professional development and access to a world of internal and external training courses and professional qualifications.
