Position Summary The Human Resources Director is tasked with ensuring that a safe and equitable environment exists for all employees of the Washington Spirit. The Head of HR will develop and direct all necessary policies and activities to support an optimal working environment. This includes enhancing and overseeing all hiring and employee evaluation processes, leading the Spirit’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local laws and full adherence to all rules and regulations of the NWSL. Duties/Responsibilities● Collaborate with Club leadership to transform the Club’s long-term strategy and objectives into policies and procedures supporting the staffing, recruiting, and employee retention programs.● Develop and manage all human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, and training and development.● Provide annual training on workplace conduct, sexual harassment, diversity and incident reporting procedures.● Manage relationships with General Counsel related to employment matters.● Collaborate with NWSL to develop and evolve a collective set of standards and best practices designed to enhance the employment experience.● Oversee annual performance evaluations for all employees.● Oversee, and as appropriate, participate in employee discipline and termination proceedings.● Develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management with a focus on developing a diverse workforce.● Establish employment related KPIs, including employee satisfaction, diversity, retention, and equitable compensation practices.● Track the industry evolution of best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law – apply this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to Club leadership.● Develop and manage a yearly budget covering all HR related expenditures.● Maintain the employee handbook to ensure it contains updated policies and procedures.● Perform other duties as required. Requirements:● Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.● At least 5 years of Human Resource management experience required.● Experience in professional sports is preferred.● Must have superior oral and written communication skills ● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.● Must be well organized and able to work independently● Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.● Thorough knowledge of Virginia state and federal employment laws and regulations.Washington Spirit is an equal opportunity employer.
