Job Summary

Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is a registered charity and is the community arm of Premier League football club, Tottenham Hotspur.

The Club, through the Foundation, seeks to use the power and attraction of football to reach into its local communities to provide opportunities that can transform their lives, especially children and young people.

The Foundation is based at the recently restored 18th century Percy House in Tottenham High Road and is part of the Club’s new stadium complex. It is driven by a passion to contribute to making a positive difference to and in area where despite the significant socio-economic challenges there is a vibrancy and richness of talent and no shortage of ambition. The Foundation harnesses and builds on this through a range of projects and initiatives to pursue, achieve and sustain the desired impacts and outcomes. It does this utilising its unique relationship with Spurs to deliver services and to co-invest with like-minded partners from the private, not-for-profit, and public sectors, to achieve the public benefit that accords with our charitable aims and objectives.

Through our strong links with local educators, employers, and government, we work with local residence who are Not in Employment, Education or Training, helping them to develop, gain qualifications and progress on to apprenticeship schemes and accessible routes to employment and education. You will have the confidence to drive forward complex projects and be passionate about supporting learners and helping them progress into learning and work.


The Health & Wellbeing Project Manager (Grants) will be responsible for the development and growth of the Foundation’s health and well-being programmes.

The post holder will oversee and inform the delivery and growth of our existing programmes and will line-manage the Senior Project Coordinator (health). The post holder will be expected to work with a range of partners across the public, private and voluntary sector to further enhance our range of activities, as well as create new health and wellbeing initiatives which meet local priorities and accord with our strategy.

The post holder will be an experienced grant/bid writer, with a proven ability in identifying new funding opportunities and securing funding to continue existing and new health and well-being opportunities for the Foundation. The successful candidate must have the desire to succeed by securing financial support

Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the post holder will work, closely with the management and leadership team to help shape the future direction and sustainability of the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:


In conjunction with the Head of Programmes:

Collaborate with partners, key stakeholders and external agencies (public, private and voluntary sector) to develop and implement new health and wellbeing initiatives which meet the Foundation’s strategic objectives, as well as supporting local health and wellbeing priorities.
Sit on relevant external strategic groups and ensure that the Foundation is represented within local, regional, and national networking, partnerships and strategic events within the health and wellbeing sector.
Take responsibility and accountability for shaping the Foundation’s health and well-being strategy, provision, and developments, being fully informed by local priorities from integrated care service, and other appropriate internal and external resources (e.g., strategic documents, government papers, etc.) to help shape targeted delivery in the future – In conjunction with the Head of Programmes


Set clear outcomes in collaboration with the Senior Project Coordinator (Health) and metrics for the Foundation’s Health and Well-being programme strategy and related action plans.
Proactively research and identify new funding sources and maintain (where possible sustain) relationships with already identified funding streams.
Lead and submit applications for grants from relevant charitable trusts, funds and foundations
Accountability for quality assurance processes including the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of health and wellbeing projects for funders/key stakeholders.
Ensure that the Trust’s obligations detailed in service level agreements/contracts are met, and provide related reports to the Head of Programme, for senior management, Board, audit and for reporting to funders and others.
Proactively contribute to the management and leadership team.


Maintain oversight of programme, ensuring that all delivery is supported by a thorough risk assessment and that risks are actively mitigated
Ensure that appropriate insurance is in place for programmes requiring specific insurance coverage.
Lead by example to ensure adherence to GDPR, Health & Safety & Safeguarding procedures and all other Foundation policies

PROJECT MANAGEMENT & FINANCE – Oversight and responsible for working with the Senior Project Coordinator

Oversee the project management of budgets, staffing, and project delivery (including events) to ensure that your area of responsibility is financially sound and sustainable.
Provide leadership and oversight of the overarching project plan, ensuring that it incorporates the objectives, activities, responsible parties, dates, and key milestones of the various stakeholders.
Contribute to the management and development of the projects in the portfolio and support the Senior Project Coordinator (Health) in achieving set objectives on time, and within budget.


Lead, manage, support, and develop staff reporting to you.
Conduct appraisals for direct reports, as per the appraisal process
Maintain oversight and work with the Senior Project Coordinator (Health) to design a recruitment plan to attract high-quality sessional staff (with appropriate qualifications) with a view to strengthening the Foundation’s infrastructure and capacity, to support its future growth and development.


Lead on and collaborate with staff to capture the social impact/value of programmes/events using outcomes-based evidence and a variety of methods such as reports, case studies, testimonies, media articles, feedback surveys, etc. and ensure your direct reports are using appropriate M&E systems.
Undertake project evaluation reports as appropriate and ensure that reports, statistics, and case studies are provided to relevant parties including management, Board, funders

Skills & Experience:


A proven track record of securing funding for health-related projects or initiatives.
Highly organised, able to set and meet demanding priorities across multiple projects
Strong influencer with a track record of building collaborative relationships using diplomacy, tact and tenacity.
Proven experience of line managing and developing full and part-time staff.
Experience of project management.
Proven experience of contract management.
Success in building relationships both internally and externally and working collaboratively with a range of partners.
Proven experience setting and managing budgets.


Proven experience in project management with experience in project planning processes and techniques (advantageous if in the health & wellbeing sector)
Knowledge and understanding of the health priorities across the boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest.
Experience of putting together service-level agreements/contracts for project partners.
Experience of using IT systems to monitor and evaluate the delivery of projects, activities, and events.
Experience of event management.
Significant experience working at a management/leadership level in the health and wellbeing sector and involvement in strategic groups.
A good understanding of the national and sub-regional government agenda relating to health and wellbeing.
Knowledge of the health and fitness sector and an understanding of behaviour change interventions.
