Playing at the 50,987 seat Ibrox Stadium and benefitting from the world-class 37-acre training facility, the club has been a dominant force in Scottish football for decades. The club benefits from a famously loyal support and the high volume of season tickets is the foundation of the top 19 best attendances in Europe. It is estimated that Rangers has a global fanbase of 4m, half of which reside in the UK.
JOB TITLE: Health & Safety Manager                           
REPORTING LINE: Director of Operations & Venue

THE ROLE
An opportunity has arisen to join Rangers Football Club as Health & Safety Manager.
As part of the overall Operations team, the Health & Safety Manager will act as the club’s lead competent person for health and safety. They will ensure the club complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision, and to ensure the Company Directors are advised accordingly.
The Health & Safety Manager will develop policy and procedures and work proactively with all managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the club.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

To work within the senior management team to build, manage, asses, train, steer and control all Health and Safety activity on site to ensure that all company policies and our legal compliance requirements to Health and Safety on site are attained.
Advise the Senior Management Team on the implications of current emerging health and safety legislation and to generate action plans to ensure cost effective compliance across the club.
Provide specialist advice, coaching and practical support for managers to maintain safe systems of work.
Carry out a programme of site inspections and audits to enable a continual improvement practice and regulatory compliance, including stadium license is acted upon.
Ensure H&S failings/risks are escalated to the Head of Security as appropriate with suggested actions for improvement.
Investigate, or where appropriate, assist others to investigate causes of accidents/near misses.
To liaise with external bodies, Police Scotland, Fire Scotland, HSE, Protective Services and environmental agencies as appropriate.
Create an environment of discussion and consultation with managers and employees.
Liaise with managers to plan training for employees and develop and deliver training to maintain compliance (including induction and First Aid training).
Work with managers to ensure that all employees adhere to and comply with health and safety related law and regulations.
Take action to mitigate the impact of health & safety risks.
To prepare and circulate reports as required.
Assist and Liaise the Security team with any incidents or contingency plans in relation to Health & Safety.
Monitor the waste management and practical energy reduction strategies in a cost-effective manner whilst ensuring compliance.
Work in conjunction with the facilities team to monitor third party Contractors prior to and during work on site to ensure compliance.
Issue permits to work appropriate to activity identified by agreed risk assessments.

THE CANDIDATE
The candidate attributes include:

CMIOSH qualified.
Excellent communication skills at all levels (internal and external), verbal and written, with the ability to manage, influence and motivate others to achieve and set targets in relation to safety, performance and people engagement agendas.
Self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic with a personal drive to achieve set targets and support continuous improvement.
Customer focused attitude.
Ability to ensure compliance with all H&S legal requirements appropriate to the Club’s activities.
Clear understanding of disability legislation including Equality Act 2010.
Certification in specific disabilities and how the built environment can restrict access to services etc.
Realistic approach to planning and negotiating short and long term goals.
Level 4 Safety Officer qualification is desirable
