ROLE DESCRIPTION

Introduction :

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for Association Football in the Republic of Ireland. The FAI has primary responsibility for all regulatory and footballing aspects of the game in Ireland.

The Position :

Working as part of a large football division, the Head of Talent Identification and Recruitment will play an integral part in our commitment in identifying, monitoring, recruiting and supporting the best players to play for Ireland. The Head of Talent Identification and Recruitment will increase the pool of players available to both the male and female National teams, whilst at the same time keeping more players in Ireland involved in the system longer, by implementing a more effective monitoring system which is communicated nationally with clubs.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement a strategy of talent identification both Nationally and Internationally whilst also enhancing existing structures.
Build a Talent ID process that interlinks with all departments.
Implement a filtering process in collaboration with the teams Head coaches.
Implement a player monitoring system nationally which is communicated with clubs on a regular basis.
Work with staff to identify areas for individual player development within our playing pool.
Oversee and develop a scouting team within Ireland, UK and USA.
Develop a scouting network in Europe.
Communicate our Talent ID strategy to all departments so that it can reach the wider football department.
Ensure all scouts are vetted and have Safeguarding Certificate.
Help design and create a modern player database.
Work closely with all international coaches in both the male and female game.
Develop and enhance relationships with all stakeholders that may include but not exhaustive to; Clubs, UEFA, FIFA, Other associations, FAI affiliates and committees, players and parents/guardians.

The Person:

The successful candidate will have the following:

Extensive industry network.
High levels of experience within talent identification and player recruitment.
Understanding of player development through the ages
Good people skills and ability to build relationships nationally and internationally.
Knowledge of FIFA rules & International eligibility rules regarding playing for Ireland and changing nationalities.
Ability to combine objective and data scouting methods.
Experience of managing a team of people.
Knowledge of what an elite environment should look like.
Computer literate and able to build and update databases.

Qualifications:

UEFA B licence or higher
Computer / IT qualification
Talent ID qualification would be beneficial but not essential.

Experience:

A reliable and credible background within football with a track record of identifying players.
Experience within a player development programme.
Have experienced an elite environment as a player, coach, or head of recruitment.
Understanding of advanced technology platforms to assist the scouting process.
High level of communication and presentation skills.
Analytical and process driven approach.
Excellent I.T skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
