SUMMARY
Under the lead of the Academy Director, the Head of Player Development role will oversee the planning and administration of all aspects of Individual Development, including the individual growth and development plans of high-level Academy and Second Team players. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to recruitment and retention of qualified academy and Real Monarchs players; teaching, training, and skill development; game day coaching; video sessions and editing; and scheduling training sessions. The Player Development Coach will be expected to adhere to all guidelines and regulations set forth by MLS Next, MLS Next Pro, and Real Salt Lake.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Design, implement, and oversee implementation of all aspects of individual development plans for Real Monarchs and academy players.
Ensure effective practice and individualized plans adhere to RSL curriculum and methodology.
Work individual, small group, and position-specific on-field training.
Create, cut, and lead individual and small group video sessions.
Meet and connect regularly with players and parents as necessary.
Serve as a role model and positive image for Real Salt Lake players.
Guide and mentor all athletes associated with the program.
Contribute to managing the player rosters, positional depth charts and to talent identification and scouting efforts.
Contribute to the Elite Development Programming for future Real Salt Lake Academy players.
Maintain coaching a development license at the highest levels available.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have previous experience in competitive coaching and player development is required.
Must have previous experience managing coaching staff and team members effectively.
Knowledge of and ability to follow RSL, MLS and MLS Next Pro policies and procedures.
Knowledge of MLS, MLS Next Pro, and MLS Next Level soccer.
Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others professionally.
Proactive approach to task execution and personal development.
Must be able to build and maintain working relationships with peers, clients, families, elite athletes, and others encountered throughout course of employment.
Must be able to always maintain composure and respectful demeanor.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Working knowledge of video analysis platforms including Hudl, Sportscode, and Wyscout.
Must have a positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and eagerness to learn.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
Must be able to pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
USSF Coaching License preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 25 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, typing, etc.
