Job Description Job Description Purpose of Role: The Head of Football Development is a critical position that will have strategic responsibility for delivering ‘A flexible, inclusive and appealing playing offer’ one of six key strategic objectives outlined in the FAW’s strategy ‘Our Wales’ (2021-26). The role will be responsible for delivering high level targets of: – 1. 120,000 registered players by 2026; 2. 20,000 female by 2026; 3. % representation from Ethnically Diverse Communities and with a health condition to be above the Welsh average by 2026; The role is a member of the senior management team who will report in to the Chief Executive Officer. They will lead and manage a central football development team, oversee a network of regional football development hubs and play a critical role in supporting the facilities strategy and investment to ensure impact on grassroots football. Key Areas of Accountability and Responsibility: • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the delivery and development of a flexible, inclusive and appealing football offers across Wales by developing and delivery of an annual participation plan that delivers growth across all football • Work with the Insight manager to use data and insight to design and develop solutions that meet the needs across the pathways and develop targeted interventions with key target groups • Strategically lead the development of appropriate support and guidance to assist clubs to grow their football provision, business, people, facilities and impact on health and wellbeing • Support the strategic objective of ‘Inspirational and fit for future facilities’ working closely and collaboratively with the FAW Trust to ensure effective delivery, monitoring and reporting of local and regional facility plans and impact of facilities investment. • Establish and implement regional football development hubs) including setting up and monitoring appropriate infrastructure including facility, operational, staffing and performance measures of the hubs. • Manage and lead central and regional football development teams (to be established) ensuring delivery of objectives aligned to agreed budgets • Support the Equality Diversity Inclusion and Integrity Manager to achieve the equality standards and ensure equality is embedded across the organisation • Play a leading role in advocating the role and impact of football in delivering a healthier more active Wales whilst working closely with the Head of Public Affairs to agree a communications plan to regularly showcase grassroots football • Identify, manage, and develop key strategic relationships with partners and stakeholders to meet the strategic objectives of the FAW, these include : o Area Associations through playing a lead role on Community Game Board and establishment and monitoring of regional KPIs o Sport Wales including securing annual investment, managing the partnership agreement and supporting knowledge sharing and learning across the sector o UEFA and the FAW’s participation mentor including overseeing the management and successful completion of the UEFA GRASS Survey o Other stakeholders as identified and agreed
