ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role Accountabilities & Key Duties

Key Responsibilities

1. To oversee the training and development plans of all 1st team squad, Development Squad, youth team and Women’s team goalkeepers. This will include the creation of curriculums of work to prepare the players for the game-related challenges that will be faced throughout a normal season.

2. To ensure the prepared training programme is interlinked with the Performance department and covers all physical requirements for the specific individual players.

3. To review and prepare analytical footage to be viewed and discussed with players and coaching staff. This will include match and training footage and can be interspersed with alternative examples of good practice.


4. To liaise closely with the Academy Director, Coaches, Goalkeeper Coaches and ensure that the key messages delivered to the 1st team goalkeepers are relayed appropriately. This will include the delivery of pitch and classroom-based sessions to emphasise significant coaching points.

5. To work alongside the 1st Team Head Coach and Assistant Coach to provide knowledge, expertise and provide knowledge, expertise and opinions on a daily basis.

6. To seek to utilise your knowledge, experience and standing within the game to always promote the Club and to strengthen its standing within the wider football community.

9. To produce a goalkeeper briefing note on how to defend against opposition on each team that the 1st team plays, to be delivered ahead of the week of training for the relevant fixture.

10. To produce monthly goalkeeper development and pathway progress reports for review by the CEO, which include data-driven metrics and KPIs to measure the efficacy of your own performance, as well as the performance of the goalkeepers.

Pathway Management

12. To play a key role in the production of Goalkeeper Academy-developed players ready to for the First Team.

13. To work closely with the Head of Methodology and Head of Integrated Performance to design, monitor and evaluate individual performance and development plans for Professional Development Phase players.

14. To provide insightful contributions towards the Club’s succession planning meetings.

15. To support the delivery of review meetings with players & parents/carers in line with EPPP requirements.


Leadership

16. To work closely with the Head of Methodology to design technical documents to support the Academy’s Performance Plan.

17. To provide line-management and mentoring support to Academy Goalkeeper Coaching Staff.

18. To conduct performance appraisals for direct reports

19. To promote a culture of innovation across the Coaching Department, ensuring that regular research is conducted into new ways of working.

20. To undertake personal CPD as appropriate to meet the demands of the role.

21. To deliver all other duties that may arise from time to time and fall within the scope of this position.

Safeguarding

22. To develop a sound working knowledge of safeguarding children’s regulations, including legislation & governing body rules.

23. To ensure that any safeguarding or welfare concerns are reporting efficiently.

24. To comply with all company policies/procedures and adhere to all company regulations regarding policies, procedures, health, safety, and security.
