HEAD OF FOOTBALL TEAM OPERATIONS
We are CD Castellon, a historic Spanish Football Club, competing in the 3rd tier of Spanish Football, Primera RFEF. We proudly celebrated our centenary this year, and in parallel, under new owner Bob Voulgaris, have set out ambitious plans for our future as a LaLiga team. To accelerate us on this journey, we are seeking a key position of Head of Team’s Operations.
First team football operations is the area that leads in the facilitation of all the elements of sports, administrative and logistics,, working directly with other first team functional departments as well as collaboratively with departments across the Club.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring delivery of an excellent level of operational and administrative work to support first team performance directly, by travelling with the team on away matches and to hotels used prior to home matches, to ensure the excellent standard of delivery of the operational plan.
You will be the main point of contact at the club for liaison with RFEF and LPF with reference to league and competition matters affecting the first team.
Particularly, we are seeking a professional with specific skills to identify, lead and collaborate in key projects to improve operational excellence to support team performance and to lead the development of a team operations strategy according to the Club frameworks in place at the time, setting a clear direction and team objectives which are regularly monitored to ensure consistency of performance.
Lead the delivery of all operational elements of first team training and playing to include, but not limited to:
Procurement of training facilities
Equipment and kit
Travel and accommodation
Delivery of nutritional requirements determined by specialists in other departments
Liaison with other service providers (such as stadium and facility teams)to ensure availability of facilities and services (such as laundry).
Lead the delivery of an excellent match day process including liaison with officials and the delivery of the match delegate process
Act as the main point of contact with RFEF and LPF for team operational matters including competition rules and guidelines and player eligibility
Ensure a deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and developments and maintain a comprehensive and up to date set of appropriate procedures and documentation to support regulatory compliance
Lead the process monitoring of player disciplinary points and their impact on team selection and performance, including managing the process of appeals as appropriate
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, participate in performance review and planning workshops every 4-6 weeks to define all technical and operational requirements in advance to facilitate excellence service levels
Overall responsibility for administration and coordination of the performance planning toolkit
Overall responsibility for the administration of player records databases on defined club platforms and systems, to ensure comprehensive and contemporaneous records of player details are maintained in order to meet internal operational needs, external compliance rules and operating within GDPR guidelines
Oversee the process of player registration for the first team and B team, ensuring all players have appropriate licenses in order to play according to the needs of the Club
Oversee the process to support the arrival and integration of new players as part of an overall player liaison and welfare service
Oversee the management of player and staff ticket requests for the first team to ensure requests are met within defined policies
Lead the definition and ongoing evolution of a comprehensive team operations “DNA” to enable the development of detailed operating intellectual property and a detailed set of standard operating procedures
Liaise with Team operations staff in other teams to share knowledge and experience
Plan, prepare and manage the team operations budget, ensuring spend is monitored and delivers the right balance of quality and value to align to Club objectives
Lead the recruitment and development of team operations staff, including staff development and regular performance appraisals
Knowledge and Education
Experience as head of operations or, in a similar role, heading towards senior management responsibilities
Desirable experience at least 2 years in football operations
You must know deeply the legislation that governs football sports clubs
High level of competency in common software platforms including G Suite, MS Office and typical database functions
General aptitude for integrating technology solutions to solve process related problems
A willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the role
Availability to travel and attend sporting events
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to facilitate team interactions
Strong leadership skills with the ability to leverage diverse resources, respond quickly, understand the impact of changes and decisions, facilitate deals, build collaborative relationships, and focus on the needs of the first team
Strong planning and delivery skills, including the ability to effectively use data to solve problems and assess process changes and impacts
Ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, especially with contracted contractors and services
Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and English
