Role description
This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for talented individuals to help us identify and recruit our next generation of talent. As such, we are looking for an experienced and innovative Head of Emerging Talent to provide expert, professional and technical leadership for a team of global scouts as part of one of the most exciting projects in global sport.
Reporting to our Head of Recruitment and working closely with our First Team and Emerging Talent Recruitment Operations Manager, Academy staff and the Loan Managers team you will strategically identify and recruit the long term future talent for the first team. You will achieve this by fostering a dynamic ethos within the team to identify, assess, align, communicate and close deals for future talents within the Emerging Talent Recruitment department.
Joining our growing and passionate Recruitment Team, you will be possess expert knowledge of sport with regards to game models, playing styles and profiles of technical, tactical, physical, psychological traits within the potential targets. The successful candidate will also have significant experience within an elite football/sport organisation with experience as a coach, analyst or scout coupled with evidence experience as an inspirational leader.
Operating within the desired framework, profile, and methodology as set by the Club, you will work with the Emerging Talent scouting element within the department to reflect on performance, producing challenging individual KPI’s and group aims within an operational plan to lead, manage and appraise the emerging talent department aligned to the long term aims vision of the Club.
You will identify new potential target players, producing a specific football and business case dossier to show a robust and rigorous process has been followed when presenting the cases to the Head of Recruitment. This will be achieved by, amongst other things, having a data evidenced based proposal as to how players fit into the near or long-term future of the club.
You will be an innovative leader with a proven track record of a collaborative approach to internal and external working relationships and the ability to maintain a relevant and extensive professional network.
We are very passionate about our values and on occasion, you may be required to travel to Newcastle regarding a potential target to help induct players and families.
Possession of the FA Talent ID Level 3 certification (or equivalent) and a relevant degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) are essential, with FA Talent ID Level 4 being highly desirable. A full UK driving licence is also essential.
The nature of this role also means that unsocial hours working and travel are a key element of the position.
