Job Purpose: To lead the strategic development of the Education & Skills programmes and projects of the EFL Trust and to generate Education & Skills funding opportunities for EFL Trust and its 72 club community trusts.
Main role and responsibilities
To support and advise the Director of Business Development, and the EFL Trust Board on Education & Skills.
To represent the interests of the EFL Trust and Club Community Trusts with Government policy makers and funding bodies regarding Education & Skills.
To identify, explore and develop funding and revenue opportunities that further the EFL Trust’s Education & Skills strategy.
To lead on bid writing for all funding opportunities linked to Education.
To create and maintain partnerships with Government, other charities, commercial partners, League Football Education, the ‘football family’ and other partners that can assist the EFL Trust with the development of its Education & Skills strategy.
To have overall management responsibility on behalf of the Director of Business Development for all Education programmes and projects run by the EFL Trust, including full budgetary responsibility and achievement of defined KPIs.
To provide all reports as required by the funders or the Director of Business Development for management/trustees meetings.
To have lead management responsibility on behalf of the Director of Business Development for employees within the EFL Trust Education strand.
To develop and maintain strong internal communication with Senior Managers and employees to promote and develop synergies with other themes.
To act as Club Community Link Officer for a number of EFL Community Trusts.
To undertake any other duties as required by the Director of Business Development.
Special Requirements of the Role
Regular regional/national travel with potential for some evening and weekend working.
Occasional requirement for over night stays.
Ability to travel to the 72 Club Community Organisations as necessary.
A suitable home office with broadband access.
Demonstrable experience working in a senior level role, managing a team within a regulated environment.
Proven track record of successful delivery of Projects from a strategic perspective.
Knowledge of legislation affecting operations such as Safeguarding, Health and Safety and GDPR.
Knowledge of current and evolving relevant public sector funding tendering opportunities that EFL Trust and the CCO network could apply to deliver.
Understanding of Apprenticeship funding mechanisms.
Skills & Experience
Experience in developing and managing partnerships with education and or training and skills organisation, particularly high profile or influencing stakeholders.
Experience managing and motivating a team of people in an education or training environment.
The ability to work in a collaborative way with other senior managers.
Evidential success in managing the delivery of complex projects to the required specification.
Bid writing skills with evidence of successful outcomes.
The ability to effectively manage budgets and coordinate procurement activities.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to a variety of audiences.
An understanding of education, skills and training regulatory and governance requirements.
Self-motivated and able to act on initiative.
Ability to handle adversity and challenge in a positive way.
