Head of Football Development

SUMMARY:

The Head of Football Development will lead the strategic and operational development of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary performance analysis & individual development service across San Diego FC’s First Team. This is a key role providing support to the coaching staff on the implementation of SDFC'c style of play, creating technical and tactical insights for staff and players. The role will manage the following positions: Performance/Video Analyst(s), Individual Development Analyst and Individual Development Coach.


RESPONSIBILITES:


Reporting to SDFC’s Assistant Sporting Director, the Head of Football Development’s primary duties and responsibilities will be:


Weekly follow up on the implementation and alignment of the coaching staff towards the style of play developing a clear methodology and unified language to grant a full integration of the coaching staff and players to our playing style
Lead the video analysis department
Develop a weekly video periodization to prepare the team for our next opposition
Individual development meetings supported by video and data
Collective analysis of the performance of the team and its alignment towards playing style
Implement individual development plans and coordinate the mentorship making sure there is a clear accountability towards the development of each player
Develop a strong connection with the coaching staff to implement an effective strategy to work on set pieces and restarts
Research on the evolution of the game and implementation of new trends
Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines
Adhere to any other requests that meet the needs of the organization


QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates can meet the requirements with a combination of experience in the following areas:


Essential:
Postgraduate degree in a field related to Performance Analysis
Minimum of 4 years of related experience within analysis (or similar role) working with coaches and performance staff
Professional experience within multi-disciplinary teams in elite sport
Proven track record of establishing and delivering a robust performance analysis system around video and data
Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks based on impact to organization
Expert knowledge on analysis tools, specifically Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, video telestration
High level of soccer knowledge and experience, specifically within MLS, USSF, CONCACAF and FIFA
Passport and ability to travel domestically and abroad


Preferred:
Coaching and/or playing experience preferred
Practical experience with data visualization tools a plus
Strong verbal, written, in-person and presentation communication skills
Process driven with careful attention to detail
Excellent organizational, data collection, planning and leadership skills
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or multi-lingual fluency
