Role description

. Job purpose:
To oversee all commercial activities within the organisation ensuring all opportunities are maximised for profit generation.

Duties and responsibilities:
To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all stakeholders, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries; To develop, lead and manage all commercial activities of the business; To develop and implement an innovative, growth focused commercial strategy, focusing primarily on new product areas and emerging markets; To ensure that profitable business growth is accelerated and that commercial success is achieved; To understand the value drivers of the business and to identify profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue and market share; To work closely with the Head of Marketing, Head of Media and other relevant Head of Departments to manage and communicate to key customers (existing and new), thereby improving turnover and profitability; Undertake market research analysis to produce business plans/recommendations (including all associated costs and forecastedrevenue for the business), to ensure that all business development opportunities (new products, services and markets) are optimised; Collate and analyse business data pertaining to all commercial activities; Carry out risk assessments when acquiring new customer accounts / commercial opportunities; Negotiate and maintain ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers (to include Main Club Sponsor, Kit sponsor and Catering Partner); Review contracts and offer recommendations on commerciality; To interpret market trends and adapt to industry changes; Management and reporting of supplier contracts and terms; Streamlining lead generation processes enabling the sales team to chase leads swiftly; To analyse opportunities for growth via acquisition and performing due diligence; To implement new sales strategies and ensuring departments follow industry best practice; To make commercial recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors; To set and deliver the company plan alongside other Department Heads;
Manage the Club commercial budget, assisting in the development of commercial projections and reporting on financial outcomes and other KPI; To handle a variety of projects for the business and to oversee project management; To carry out regular reviews with customers to ensure that their needs are met to ensure excellent customer service is achieved; To develop future improvement/services for customers; To identify networking opportunities across local community; and To lead and inspire the commercial team to meet the expectations for productivity, quality and strive for continuous improvement.

Skills required:
Strong entrepreneurial skills and a natural ability to spot opportunities for revenue generation; The ability to lead and inspire people with excellent managerial and motivational skills along with credible and confident communication skills (written and verbal); Gravitas, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships to enhance and strengthen the company profile; Strong presentation skills; Ability to negotiate and influence with a proven strategic aptitude; Highly energised and motivated with a high level of commitment; Commercially astute and customer focused; The ability to work collaboratively with others to provide a high quality service; Hands-on approach, with a ‘can-do’ attitude; Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately in a busy and demanding football environment; Self-motivated, with the ability to work proactively using own initiative; and Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Knowledge /experience required:
High level of knowledge in commercial with a proven track record of working within a senior commercial position; Knowledge of strategy formulation and implementation; Knowledge of the football club and its history; and Knowledge and awareness of GDPR and handling sensitive data

Qualifications required:
Educated to degree level in a relevant subject; Relevant leadership/management qualification level 5 or above (or working towards); and Proven track record of working within a senior leadership position.
