About this role:

Reporting into the Academy Director, the U13 – U16 Head of Coaching will be responsible the professional development of the full-time and part-time coaches within the Youth Development Phase.

Head of Individual Development Coaches 13 – 16
Goalkeeping Coaches U13 – U16


Job duties:

Oversee, monitor and update the CCF to ensure a highly effective development programme is applied for all coaching staff within the YDP
Ensure the Academy Coaching & Playing Philosophy is consistently delivered across the phase and all teams are trying to ‘out pass and out press the opposition’
Ensuring YDP Staff’s coaching behaviors are aligned to the clubs profile for a YDP Head of Team Development Coach
Ensure all Head of Individual Development Coaches are supported and monitored in their delivery of this aspect of the programme to the Academy Players
Create and maintain an outstanding day release model for all Hybrid Players
Attend and commit to the Premier League’s Elite Head of Coaching (EHOC) Development Programme (if applicable)
Create a ‘best practice’ document for Coaches on matchdays
Ensure the Leadership team are aware of both internal and external coaching talent in respect of succession planning
Recruit, induct and embed outstanding coaching staff
Ensure each coach also has a personalised Development Action Plan (DAP), which is tailored to meet their needs and that the coach embraces the document.
Design and develop an effective coach evaluation process
Run an internal and external CPD programme along with the U8 – U12 Head of Coaching that focuses on developing elite staff
Work with the Lead Phase Coach to ensure Multi-disciplinary communication between staff, players and parents
Provide and arrange cover at Academy coaching sessions and matches for absent coaches.
Identify and develop the elite Players within the Youth Development Phase
Working with the Head of Recruitment create Crystal Palace specific Player Profiles
Create and maintain a Crystal Palace specific coaching library
Develop relationships with the Parents of the elite Players to ensure their commitment to staying at CPFC
Ensure all coaching staff from U9 – U21 have the correct coaching, safeguarding and 1 st Aid qualifications
Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager.
Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.


Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

UEFA A-Licence
FA Advanced Youth Award
Experience of developing elite Players in the Youth Development Phase
Experience of managing staff
An deep knowledge of the EPPP
Strong work ethic
A commitment to work outside of the designated hours at various points of the season around the demands of the role
