Role description

We are recruiting for a newHead of Academy Physiotherapyto join our Training Ground team.

To be responsible for managing the academy medical department, along with leading the physiotherapy services for the U21s Squad.

Your main responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to the following:


To provide clinical leadership and coordinate the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all injuries within the academy and to ensure these processes are reviewed appropriately.
To coordinate and lead the delivery of physiotherapy services across all three phases with full responsibility for all U21s players.
To coordinate physiotherapy services across the academy including managing the part time staff and arranging cover for both training and games in line with EPPP requirements.
To provide the appropriate support to ensure the Medical Department contribute the necessary information to enable suitable targets are set and reviewed in line with the relevant time scales of the Players Performance Clock.
To develop, lead and implement evolving injury prevention strategies for the Academy with particular focus on relevant injury audit data.
Continually review and assess the programme in accordance with the latest research.
Identify key performance indicators in relation to progress within the field.



To ensure all staff gain the relevant qualifications, and these are maintained and updated in line with the requirements of their role, and those of their Professional bodies such as the FA, Premier League and the Health and Care Professions Council.
To ensure all screening is carried out at relevant times and the data produced is used to produce both individual and squad rehabilitation programmes.
To update and inform staff from other departments of significant issues related to players which may affect their performance i.e., weekly medical report.
To ensure the Academy Manager and Head of Medical Services are provided with a weekly update.
To update and maintain all qualifications in line with the requirements of your role and those of the Professional bodies such as the FA, Premier League and the Health Professions Council.
To adhere to club policies with particular emphasis to safeguarding children and equity and to ensure all staff within the department do likewise.
To ensure all medical staff update the Players Performance Clock appropriately.
To ensure all relevant medical data is processed into the Performance Management Application (PMA).
To ensure all Medical staff coordinate Individual Player programmes (i.e., individual injury prevention programmes) and contribute to player reviews.
To carry out and lead on the staff management of all academy medical staff; including, timetabling, appraisals, CPD and communications.

You must have:


BSc in Physiotherapy
Trauma Management Qualification (ATTMiF or equivalent)
Leadership and Management Experience
Knowledge of LTAD Frameworks

You must have Right to Work in the UK and hold a Full Driving Licence.
