Job Description

MAIN TASKS

Role model exemplary, ethical decision making, exceptional teamwork and leadership behaviours that are conducive to creating environments of performance excellence, teamwork and a commitment to continuous improvement
Responsible for the interdisciplinary approach of the Academy Performance Department. This will include the strategic planning, management and delivery of the Athletic Development, Physiotherapy, Medical Services, Psychology/Lifestyle Management and supporting Nutrition delivery
Report to the Academy Manager and be an active member of the Academy Management Team (AMT), lead and manage the Academy’s high-performance services to support the physical, mental, technical and tactical development of all Academy players
Regularly collate and report the current and predictied performance department function and outcomes to the AMT and appropriate first team staff


ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES

To create and deliver a performance department vision and strategy that aligns and underpins the Academy/Club vision and goals
Ensure each member of the Performance Department has an effective understanding of the department's aims and objectives with clear awareness of each staff member’s role and responsibility
Deliver a process so all staff have regular opportunities for formal and informal appraisal feedback and a program of professional development aligned to department requirements
To represent the performance department in key Academy meetings, including Academy Management Team meetings, retain and release meetings, player review meetings, strategic and budget planning meetings, etc.
Ensure appropriate departmental representation throughout daily and weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings
Develop and deploy a multi departmental football player screening tool that identifies health risk, physical and psychological limiting factors
Develop and deploy a multi departmental football player monitoring tool that evaluates response to training, match, nutrition and lifestyle
To oversee and develop an age appropriate physical, psychological, medical and nutritional development strategy across all Academy players. This model needs to align to the demands of the Playing Philosophy of the Academy
To oversee and develop an age-appropriate injury and illness prevention program (physical and mental). This must include clear key performance indicators that monitor this strategy's effectiveness
To oversee and develop individual player interventions based upon the player’s diagnostics results. As part of this intervention, ensure appropriate measures of intervention effectiveness are utilized
To manage the integration, use and visualisation of data to provide actionable insights for daily decision making, programme planning, player reviews, succession planning and recruitment
To work with the Academy Management Team to align all Academy departmental function to ensure the player pathway to the first team is maximized
To drive and develop relations with the first team performance staff in order to enhance Academy and 1st Team Performance Team integration
To lead the department's educational responsibilities to players, parents and staff from all aspects of performance. Include but limited to, nutrition, injury prevention and management, physical development, mental performance and mental wellbeing
To contribute to the development of research and innovation across the Club and wider Red Bull ecosystem


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

Degree in Sports Science (or related discipline)
UEFA C Licence or desire to achieve this
1st Aid qualification or desire to achieve this
Child protection disclosure or desire to achieve this
DESIRABLE

Masters in Sports Science (or related discipline)
UEFA B License
BASES Accreditation or equivalent or desire to achieve this
UKSCA or CSCS Accreditation or desire to achieve this
ISAK certification


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL

Minimum of 5 years experience within a professional football club
Managerial experience in a multidisciplinary performance environment, ideally football
Demonstrate self-improvement and continued professional development ability
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work flexibly around the demands of the role including weekends and evenings where required
Working knowledge of the Elite Player Performance Plan from the English Premier League
Demonstrate a commitment and desire to work in the youth development department
Ability to live and work in Germany
DESIRABLE

German language
Experience of mentoring and developing staff
Data visualisation experience with softwares such as Power Bi/Tableau
Experience in planning and conducting research within the sporting environment
