We are advertising for a Head of Academy Performance to assist the Head of Academy in the development, organisation, co-ordination and implementation of performance programmes for Academy players. This post is expected to involve leading the Strength & Conditioning and Sports Science departments to optimise the availability and enhance the athletic development of Nottingham Forest Academy players through the provision of footballs best science services. There is also an expectation to direct the achievement of the aims and objectives of the Academy through the delivery of best practice.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of performance support across the Academy including Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, Performance Analysis and Nutrition.
• Develop a long-term vision for performance support aligned to the Academy strategy and in collaboration with the coaching and medical departments.
• Line manage the lead members of staff in the performance support areas of work creating a culture and environment where they are empowered to develop new ways of maximising the potential of our players.
• Link with the First Team staff to ensure that the performance support programme develops first team ready players.
• Play a lead role in the performance planning process and bring in new ideas and creative insight to enhance existing practice.
• Be a proactive member of the Academy leadership team.
• Ensure a program of future innovation through links with research and development partnerships and co-ordination of on-site applied research studies.
• Ensure strong lines of communication to all relevant stakeholders relating to operational delivery and how it is helping support player development.
• Strategically lead all research and working with key stakeholders, internal an external to maximise its impact.
• To act, at all times, in a manner appropriate to a representative of Nottingham Forest FC.
• Keep up to date with knowledge of current legislation and policies, communicating key changes to staff as appropriate. All staff are responsible for the wellbeing and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults on all Club sites. If you have a concern or witness a Safeguarding matter, you must report it to the department’s Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO). If it’s an emergency, you are to call the relevant emergency service such as Police or CAMHS
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
· Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in sports science (or another relevant discipline) from a recognised university
· Have recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment
· Co-Ordinate and lead the sports science services for the Academy
· Hold a current Basic First Aid for Sport Qualification, current EFAiF or an equivalent or higher qualification
· Hold or be working towards holding British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences accreditation
· Hold or be working towards accreditation by the UK Strength & Conditioning Association
· A broad understanding of all aspects of technical performance solutions (coaching, science, medicine and technology)
· A comprehensive understanding of the medical and scientific support needs of high-performance players
· Shall have recent and relevant professional experience in a sports performance environment
· Experience of managing staff and the creating and driving of a high-performance culture that delivers results
· Experience of strategic planning and the delivery and monitoring of SMART objectives in a High-Performance environment
· Extensive experience of working with high performance coaches in high performance environments to develop multidisciplinary periodised plans
