Position Title: Head Coach, Sunshine Coast Academy Centre
Location: Sunshine Coast
Terms: Full-time, Permanent
Reports to: Head Coach, Regional Academy Centres
Vancouver Whitecaps FC is looking for a new team member to join our Soccer Development department in the position of Head Coach, for Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association.
The position will work closely with Whitecaps FC and the Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association to lead Whitecaps FC Sunshine Coast BMO Academy Centre programming and serve as the Head Coach for Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association, executing on key deliverables as part of a technical services agreement between the two organizations.
Specific Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
• On-field coaching
• Strategic planning (technical)
• Program enhancement and building
• Coach development, education and support
• Program Administration
•Technical Structure and Management
•WFC Academy Centre program delivery
Qualifications/Experience:
In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the successful candidate will have degrees of demonstrated skills and experience as follows:
•Minimum National B Coaching License or international equivalent (Can also be in the process of receiving) with the expectation and process in place to achieve an A license.
•Knowledge of and support for the Canada Soccer’s LTPD model and Club Licensing framework.
•A proven track record and a passion for both grassroots and high-performance programs.
•Experience with coaching both male and female soccer and the design of associated programs
•Knowledge of player development systems and how they differ and integrate with community programs.
•Experience directly managing, mentoring, and supporting the development of coaches at all levels
•An understanding of the structure of youth soccer and how it relates to optimal player development.
•Knowledge of the Canadian soccer landscape, and the challenges and opportunities it presents to grassroots and high-performance player development.
• Experience managing technical budgets and associated cost management and reporting.
• An ability to think and plan strategically, and effectively link technical planning with broader Club goals and strategic intent.
•Strong communications skills and an ability to convey technical planning to non‐technical Club stakeholders, including the parents of players.
•A team player, with an ability to operate as part of an integrated multi‐functional team.
