POSITION TITLE: Grassroots Manager

REPORTS TO: Technical Manager



BACKGROUND
Guelph Soccer operates as a non-profit soccer club in the City of Guelph and wishes to
offer its members the highest possible administration support to meet the expectations
of the athletes, coaches and parents of Guelph Soccer’s programs.

OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITY

1) Player and Coach Development
Oversee the under 8 – under 12 Grassroots Development Training sessions
throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Support coaches to deliver the curriculum provided by GS Technical
Manager.
The Grassroots Manager will be the first point of contact for all grassroots
coaches.
Actively participate in training sessions to provide support, guidance and
feedback to all grassroots coaches.
Work with the Age Group Lead Coaches within each age group to ensure
Game Day Rosters are created appropriately and ensure players are placed
into the correct/appropriate game day environment with player movement,
when necessary.

Manage player feedback forms within the grassroots program; two (2) written
per calendar year.
Oversee player identification within the Recreational programs.
Work alongside the Technical Manager to deliver Coach Lead training
sessions to the recreational program, when needed.
In collaboration with the Technical Manager, facilitate the Grassroots Open
Development Sessions.
Attend all coaching development sessions conducted by Guelph Soccer for
Recreation and Grassroots Coaches.
In tandem with the Technical Manager, identify, develop and assess one
volunteer coach per game day and/or training session.




2) Administrative Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Technical Manager create and maintain the Age and
Stage appropriate curriculum for the Grassroots program.
Actively communicate with parents/players and respond to all parent/player
inquiries regarding the program.
Manage all aspects of Grassroots communications.
Oversee Grassroots player and team official league registration in
accordance with the timelines and processes prescribed by our governing
body.

Assist all volunteer coaches with licensing/registration information when
requested.
Will provide bi-weekly updates to the Technical Manager on how the
program is going and any issues within the program.
Develop all Grassroots U8-U12 Training field schedules in collaboration with
Guelph Soccer’s Competitive and Development Coordinator.

3) Event Management

Lead, organize and manage Guelph Soccer events including, but not limited
to: Open Development Sessions, and Grassroots Festivals.
Recruit volunteers to meet the resource requirements of the events.
Manage the assigned budget for the event and work within that budget.
Support and liaise with all Guelph Soccer staff and volunteers on a variety of
tasks, as needed.


Qualifications

University Degree or College Diploma in Sport Management, Recreation and
Leisure or related education.
Candidates must possess a minimum Canada Soccer C License or equivalent
certification.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a youth soccer club.
National Children’s License is preferred (or agreement to obtain within one
year).
Leadership skills, mentoring ability and program development.
Organization skills and the ability to effectively manage resources.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient computer skills.
Can work effectively with volunteer coaches, technical staff and office staff.
Must clear a criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.
Must be willing to work evening and weekend hours.
