Role description

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for Association Football in the Republic of Ireland. The FAI has primary responsibility for all regulatory and footballing aspects of the game in Ireland.

Reporting to the Director of Football, and a key member of the International Coaches, the Head Coach Girl’s Under 16 will be involved in supporting and leading the development of our elite International female players.

The Position:

An exciting opportunity to lead the Girl’s U16 international team has arisen. This role is being recruited for on specific purpose basis. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the development of Women and Girls football, and the development of international players. The role will involve leading the all aspects of the Girls U16’s international programme up until the end of September 2023.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching the team on match days game to deliver maximum player development.
The organisation and delivery of team training sessions and game plans to deliver maximum player development
The sourcing/scouting, recruitment, selection, development, nurturing and retention of players, domestically, within the UK and internationally to facilitate current and future success.
To develop strong collaborative relationships with Clubs regarding the selection and development of players.
To create and nurture a strong links with all FAI International teams.
The formulation and implementation of team objectives, periodisation and playing strategies.
Develop and implement a comprehensive games programme for the players.
Provide ongoing feedback to clubs on the development of players.
Proactive management of the relationship between coaches, multi-disciplinary support staff and players.
Oversee the development and implementation of a team/player code of conduct addressing travel, media, commercial, disciplinary areas and all other associated areas.
The supervision of player recreation and behaviour, to an acceptable professional age specific standard, while on international representative duties.
The supervision and performance management of the FAI multi-disciplinary support staff including sub-contractors.
Develop clear the lines of communication with Girls Centre of Excellence coaches to ensure clear pathways and maintain relationships.
To attend and observe National Academy events, to support the coaches and the scouting/selection of future players.
To work closely with the International Operations Division in managing the budget, planning and organising games and training programmes.

Key Skills and Experience

Essential:

UEFA A Licence
UEFA A Elite Youth Licence
A passion and motivation for the development of Women and Girls football in Ireland.
Experience and understanding of the Women and Girls game in Ireland and across the globe
An understanding of the Irish football landscape.
A deep understanding of all aspects of long-term player development.
An in-depth knowledge of the Player Development Pathway, FAI Coach Education Pathway and Underage National Leagues in Ireland.
Proven track record in the delivery, development, and implementation of a high performing culture and environment.
Proven decision making and problem-solving ability with experience in managing diverse teams.
Team Player, Talent Developer, and the ability to lead and inspire a team to success.
Energetic, and enthusiastic with excellent people, interpersonal and communication skills.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in IT with high competency in Microsoft Office 365, which includes Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.’
To be able to represent the FAI professionally and influence decisions with all stakeholders across the game.

Desirable:

UEFA Pro Licence
Playing experience
Undergraduate degree qualification or above
