Role description

PURPOSE

To Join a dynamic progressive sport science and medicine team with the responsibility of developing robust, resilient and athletic players at ITFC academy.

The Strength and Conditioning (Academy) Coach will deliver and oversee the ITFC physical & athletic development program. in addition to being an applied practitioner based within the Academy on a daily basis. Also the successful candidate will plan and deliver efficient and effective operations of the Ipswich Town Academy Strength & Conditioning Programme across all age phases (u9-u16s).

The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of the various Sports Science and Strength and Conditioning disciplines and their impact on training and performance of elite athletes.



KEY RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDE:

To assess, plan and deliver Strength and Conditioning sessions to individuals, small groups and U9’s -U16s teams on a Weekly basis as an when required by the Head of Academy Sport Science.
To take a leading role on downloading, assessing and reporting GPS data within training and matches within the U16s age group
To assist as a team part and full time interns on their practical delivery application and theoretical knowledge
To test and monitor the maturation status of all academy players and intervene and create an individualised program If required.
To conduct physical performance testing across the U9s – U16s age groups.
To liaise with other multidisciplinary department on the physical progress of academy players
To oversee & approve individual fitness & conditioning plans within the U9s – U16s age groups.
To participate in multi-discipline reviews with all coaches
To ensure all fitness programmes (formative & summative) are appropriate.
To ensure all information regarding fitness testing are inputted into the relevant Performance Management/Clock applications (PMA).
To attend all in-house in-service training sessions.
To regularly contribute to fitness assessment reporting and judgements on player fitness across all levels at the Club.
To undertake equity, diversity & safeguarding awareness training.
To ensure Medical & Sports Science input to all player reviews in accordance with APP & Youth Rule requirements.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POST

BSc Sport and Exercise Science degree or within a related field
Experience working in a professional environment (Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with academy footballers).
Understands long term athletic development process
Experience of using GPS & STATSports
A Desire and willingness to learn
Having their own philosophy
UK Driving Licence
DBS Check with children’s barred list check
Excellent reporting skills (verbal & written).
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft office software.
Complete enhanced FA CRB check with Ipswich Town.
Attend an emergency Aid course provided.
