Our Story
Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched by a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. Success has followed in not only the FAWSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while the team has regularly competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams.

Purpose
To lead the Goalkeeper coaching of the Youth and Professional Development pathway with a primary focus on the U14 – EDS age groups, enabling these individuals to maximize performance and achieve their fullest potential
When acting as lead coach, you will lead the delivery of relevant, innovative & enjoyable coaching practices across all goalkeeping groups and enable these individuals to maximize their potential by leading the goalkeeper specific multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to support the development of player and coach competencies through individual learning plans.
When acting as assistant coach, you will support the delivery of relevant, innovative & enjoyable coaching practices across goalkeeping groups, as well as small-group outfield and whole team sessions and enable these individuals to maximize their potential by engaging in MDT discussions, and individual learning plans.
Although you will work predominantly with older age groups (U14-EDS) you are also required to work closely together with coaches and age groups (U12-EDS) to collaborate and continually evolve MCWFC’s methodology/ game model, goalkeeper curriculum and maximise player development, support, and progression through the player pathway both on and off the pitch. Culminating in the integration into MCWFC’s 1st team.

Your Impact
1. To lead GKs throughout age groups; coach to motivate and develop the individual players and goalkeepers to enable them to develop into MCWFC 1st team players, whilst winning games by playing beautiful football.
2. To understand and produce key programs to enable individual players to successfully transition from the age group to age group in line with the Club’s footballing philosophy.
3. To implement and deliver individual learning plans for your designated age group squad, whilst having an age specific understanding of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological, and social development.
4. Ability to identify individual skills and apply appropriate coaching interventions, deliver, or assist in technical and tactical development tailored to the individual player throughout the player pathway (U12– EDS).
5. To ensure the cohesion, conflict resolution and management of the individual players to ensure high behavioural standards and a positive team ethic are maintained by the players at all
times.
6. To comply in line with the strategy of the FA grassroots and PGA criteria as agreed by the Club, work cooperatively with all academy staff, while developing and maintaining positive relationships with the player’s parents or guardians.
7. To liaise with the scouting and recruitment department for the selection of players and basic talent identification in person or on video where necessary.
8. To coordinate and develop a method to track and player dashboard to track goalkeeper development across the development phases.
9. To engage in and assist in the development of academy, football education, City Select and City in the community coaches through active feedback. While working cooperatively with internal programmes to identify potential future players and talent when required.
10. Prepare and deliver age-appropriate classroom sessions designed to enhance learning and understanding through innovative learning, recall, and reflective practices using various teaching strategies, multimedia resources, and interactive exercises to reinforce theoretical concepts and practical skills.

Essential
Professional qualification at UEFA B/A Licence
Professional qualification UEFA GK B/A license
Knowledge and understanding of technical, tactical, physical and social development.
FA Youth Award and FA Advanced You th Award
EFAiF qualification
Experience of working with elite level female youth players in an academy setting
Women’s game coaching experience
Current FA safeguarding certificate
Experience of working with children and young people
Knowledge of the girl’s and women’s game
Management of an U9 – U14 Lead Coach role (minimum level)
Previous experience working within the foundation and youth development phase.
Previous experience working in an academy structure - Category 1
Ability to solve tactical problems within a competitive and fast-moving environment.
Effective planning to meet fixed deadlines and problem-solving skills using initiative and sensitivity.
Demonstrable, strong knowledge of football in terms of tactics, fitness, and player development.
Desirable
Experience of working as a technical mastery coach with foundation age group players
Experience using Teamworks platform.
Strong understanding of FA PGA rules & FA grassroots rules.
Experience of working in a teaching / learning environment.
Playing experience at Tier 1-2 of English football pyramid.
