BSix Sixth Form College has a cohort of 25 students who are in year 10 and 11 on Alternative Provision. These students are integrated into full time study programmes with the mainstream post 16 cohort.

The college takes referrals from local boroughs and schools and is quality assured jointly by the them. The last quality assurance inspection rated the provision as GOOD. The provision has grown each year in the last three years and will aim to attract 30 students from September 2019.

The cohort is a blend of:

*  Students of ESOL learners who arrive in borough and are unable to claim a secondary school place

*  Students who have made informed decisions with the support of schools to take a vocational path at college rather than a full GCSE program

*  Students who have been excluded from secondary school.

The college has good success with this cohort, 2017 – 2018 had a pass rate of 90%. However, as the offer expands the college are aware of the widening needs of the cohort and wish to increase the academic and pastoral support.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Youth Work, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provision, SEND or Further Education.

You will report to the managers of Enrichment, & Foundation Learning and will join an experienced and supportive staff team.

Alternative Provision:

Arrange and lead termly residential and offsite team building experiences to develop emotional wellbeing for the Alternative Provision                    cohort.
 Track and report the emotional and social progress of Alternative Provision and High Needs cohort.
 Organise physical training and healthy living sessions for Alternative Provision and SEND cohort
 Deliver tutorial sessions to the Alternative Provision cohort that are in addition to the whole college tutorial system.
 Conduct 1-2-1 sessions each week with aims being based on student needs and a clear focus each learner’s confidence, self-esteem and           self-management
 Utilise a range of WHU Foundation delivery to support the ongoing development of young people
 Attend team meetings and Alternative Provision meetings
 Continuously review the learning progress of the Alternative Provision students

Wider College:

Commit to the college values of being Open to Learning and engage in cross-college continuous professional development
Assist the Enrichment team in supervising students completing enrichment activities as part of their study program.
Assist the Sports & Leisure Services team in facilitating regular competitive fixtures.
Contribute to the delivery of WHU Foundation delivery programmes where required
Uphold high standards of Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Contribute to the College’s Student Recruitment Events such as Open Days and Parents Evenings
Undertake Health and Safety Risk Assessments for all student physical activities
Represent WHU Foundation at all local community and college events
Embrace all CPD Opportunities through both the school and WHU Foundation


To provide an accessible and flexible approach at all times, including the working of unsocial hours, evening and weekend working as necessary and other duties as reasonably requested
Adhere to policies and procedures outlined by the Community Hub Program Manager.
Maintain and deliver to the high corporate standards of both West Ham United Foundation and the College.


Experience of delivering sports coaching within schools and community. Essential

Clean DBS record. Essential

FA  Level 2. Essential

FA Youth Modules 1 & 2 or working towards. Essential

Emergency First Aid Certificate. Essential

Safeguarding Awareness Training. Essential

Member of FA Licenced Coaches Club or relevant awarding body. Essential

Multi Sports Coaching Qualifications. Essential

AFPE Qualification or working towards. Essential

Experience of teaching English as a foreign language. Desirable

Experience of developing girls sport and in particular female football programmes. Desirable
