Role description

Summary and Main Purpose

To assist in the provision of Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation support services, focussing on all stages of injured player rehabilitation pathways and the delivery of manual therapy to all first team playing staff.

Key Tasks / Accountabilities:

To program and deliver for acute/mid/end stages of rehabilitation to all first team injured players.
To collaboratively assist the Senior First Team Physiotherapist and Head of Medical and Performance in the assessment and screening of injury diagnosis of first team players.
Effectively assist in the screening and testing protocols that objectively assess players physical capabilities within a criteria-based rehabilitation.
To provide manual therapy to all first team playing staff.
To chaperone players to off-site locations as and when dictated to by the Head of Medical and Performance. This may include, but not limited to, specialist appointments, surgical procedures, alternative therapies, rehabilitation settings, physical testing locations etc.
To attend 'in-house' continued professional development and education within the Performance Science & Medical Department.
To attend all briefings, courses and seminars as required by The Academy, The Club and The Football Association.
To act, at all times, in a manner appropriate to a representative of Rotherham United FC.
Any other duties that are reasonable and consistent with the nature of the job, as prescribed by the Head of Medical and Performance / Senior First Team Physiotherapist

Qualifications

Essential (E) Desirable (D)

BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy or Sports Rehabilitation E
Level 3 accreditation in Sports Massage E
Current membership of your relevant professional body i.e. BASRaT, SST. E
Hold ATMMiF or equivalent E

Experience

Experience of working in Professional Sport E

Skills / Knowledge

Physiotherapy

Excellent understanding of Human Anatomy and Biomechanics E
Strong understanding of dose response loading and adaptation E
Excellency in the understanding of physical screening and rehabilitation programming E

Sports Science

Excellent understanding of load monitoring and periodisation D
Excellent understanding of human physiology and principles of athletic performance D
Excellent knowledge of injury prevention and recovery strategies E

Personal Skills / Qualities

Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills E
Ability to lead pitch and gym based, group and individual conditioning E
Can integrate and contribute within a MDT.
Set and maintain high standards of work performance and deliver quality consistently and effectively E
Establish and maintain professional staff relationships E
Exceptional organization skills with the ability to manage competing demands and deadlines to be able to work in a fast-moving environment E
Holds a full current up to date driving licence E

Literacy

An understanding in operating Sport Science specific software programmes such as Catapult, Optojump, Dartfish etc D
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are clear, engaging and responsive to convey complex information to individuals E
Excellent Microsoft Office skills with special reference to Excel E
Good experience of using SPSS and other data handling software packages D
Excellent knowledge and understanding of medical and sport science terminology
