Role description

Stoke City Football Club is looking for a full time enthusiastic, skilled and ambitious First Team Sports Scientist to assist with and improve performance through developing and implementing our performance practices.

Joining our dynamic team, led by the Head of Sports Science, you will be required to collaborate and communicate with the coaching staff, players and wider medical department staff on pre training preparation, training load, recovery and nutrition principles, individualized player goals and end stage rehabilitation.

Key responsibilities

Assisting with pre training preparation, warm up and any additional work in collaboration with the coaching and performance staff.
Managing the collection and interpretation of all training load data.
Assisting and overseeing strength and power programs in conjunction with the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Evaluating player performance through performance testing, workload monitoring, and anthropometric assessments.
Implementing and reviewing return to play protocols.
Assisting with the practical implementation of appropriate nutritional and hydration strategies for players during rehabilitation, preparation for games and travel.

Key Skills and Experience

Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to enhance performance is essential, as well as an extensive understanding of the demands of the English Football League.
Experience working in a professional sport.
Proficient in the use of Statsports GPS and VALD performance technologies (Nordbord, ForceFrame, ForceDecks).
Hold, or be working towards a Strength and Conditional accreditation.
Knowledge and experience in the use of Power Bi is desirable.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum higher degree level, Master’s degree in Sport Science is preferred.

The position will be offered on a full time basis with a high degree of flexibility needed.
