ROLE DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Head Coach / Technical Director


MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY FOR: Football Analyst - First Team

LOCATION: Robins High Performance Centre, BS8 3TN

Key Responsibilities

The role will focus on providing football analysis support to the First Team, primarily within – but not restricted to the following areas:

Pre-match opposition analysis

Lead in the profiling of all opposition teams through the application of analytics and video
Provision of content and distribution of material to senior players focusing on adding a more specific/individual level to our pre-match opposition analysis process
Post-match analysis

Lead in the coding of all first team fixtures to better aid the post-match review process and generate video libraries
Support in the collection and maintenance of video databases relating to our own game model
Match-day responsibilities

Provide real-time analysis to the coaching team
This includes being present at all home matches and travelling with the team to away matches
Research projects

Work alongside the Club’s data scientist to automate working processes
Assist in development of the department and play an active role in aggressively pushing boundaries in order to achieve its targets
Department responsibilities

Continually update knowledge of best practice within football analysis and be pro-active in the search of new technologies and processes to enhance current practice
Liaise with the club’s football analysis software providers ensuring we are continuing to develop the products and use them in the most effective ways

Main Job Requirements and Person Specification

Specific Experience:

Experience working as an analyst in an elite football environment
Experience in accurately analysing multiple and often complex data streams in order to understand performance
Experience in delivering and communicating performance insights to key stakeholders in the organisation
Experience in profiling elite football teams and understanding the different strategies and systems of play that they employ
Understanding of varying working methodologies and best practice within elite sports analysis
Experience with budget management
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:

Ability to retain a very high standard of output whilst operating within strict and expeditious deadlines
Deep technical and tactical understanding of football (strategies, systems, philosophies, game models)
Exceptional inter-personal skills that facilitate the effective delivery of performance insights, build connections and support a strong team cohesion
Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and their application in automating working processes
A willingness to work flexible hours in accordance with the demands of the role
Strong desire to continuously challenge, learn and move forward
Education/Qualifications/Training:

Minimum undergraduate degree relating to the field of sports science, data science or performance analysis
Post-graduate qualification in a related discipline is preferred
FA Level 2 coaching license or above preferred
Competencies in the following software/hardware are desired: Catapult Focus/Matchtracker, HUDL Sportscode Elite and HUDL platforms, Tableau
