JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Analyst-Coach at Luton Town, you will be essential in aiding the 1st Team Coaching Team, Management, and Players by delivering comprehensive analysis content. You will support the creation of gameplans for each match throughout the season. Your insights and recommendations, in collaboration with a team of analysts, will significantly contribute to the team's strategic planning and review for the 2024-25 Season.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand the key principles and playing style of the club/coaching team and be able to relate these to upcoming opponents and challenges.
Lead on the production of insightful and innovative analysis to the first team squad as directed by the Head Coach/Manager; providing a proactive, best-in-class service that makes use of all available resources available to the club.
Conduct detailed opposition analysis, identifying key tactical insights, player traits and patterns of play to help the coaching staff develop effective training and game plans.
Provide real-time analysis during matches, offering key insights to the coaching staff to paint a clear tactical picture to help support the coaching team and their decision making.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and strategies within the field to continuously enhance the team's performance.
Develop and maintain authentic and effective working relationships throughout the club.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the first team and academy squads.
Ensure the Head Coach, coaching staff, support staff and players are provided with the appropriate resources and analysis to aid their performance.
Produce specific analysis projects as and when required by the Head Coach and coaching team, to support research and development within the Football department.
Ensure that analysis databases are constantly monitored an updated to provide stakeholders with key benchmarks and trends at the club and within the clubs’ relevant competitions.
Help to organise the structure and positions of the other analysts within the department.
Help to manage the software used in the analysis/coaching departments and the contracts relevant to those products.
Representing the club, always model the club’s values and valued behaviours.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:
A strong tactical understanding of the game with at least 5 years experience working within Professional Football as a Coach or Analyst.
Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in a sports related discipline (e.g., Sports Coaching / Sports Science) or equivalent experience.
UEFA B Licence Coaching Badge.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
Proficiency in using Performance Analysis software and other relevant analysis tools (Hudl SportsCode, Hudl Studio, SBG MatchTracker and Focus etc.).
Excellent communication skills to effectively present your analysis and recommendations to the coaching staff and players, verbally and visually.
Creative in methods of presentation – Ability to use Telestration to highlight key messages.
Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
A clear understanding of the day-to-day Football environment.
A genuine interest in continuous learning and improvement.
Desirable
MSc in a sport discipline.
UEFA A Licence Coaching Badge.
Business Administration / Management / Project.
Previous experience as an Analyst-Coach in another club.
Relevant management qualification.
