ROLE DESCRIPTION
FC Durham Academy (FCD) was established in 2013 and is as proud Canada Soccer National Youth License organization and members of Ontario Soccer, Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) and League 1 Ontario. FC Durham Academy is seeking Skill Centre Age Group Head Coaches. This position is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing the development of one of the Academy Skill Centre U8-U12 Groups. The position manages all aspects of the group including its games, training sessions, off field activities and curriculum.
Key Responsibilities1. Technical In alignment with Canada Soccer Long Term Player Development, this individual will plan, develop and execute age-appropriate training sessions. Coach during all games and festivals. Oversee the fall open sessions and placement of players in the age group. Support and implement the FCD game model, curriculum and identity. Plan and implement classroom sessions to enhance the development of the players and education of the parents. Participate in the Academy physical literacy assessment day. Participate in all internal coach development sessions related to athlete development of this age. Attend all meetings that are scheduled. Lead and mentor assigned Assistant Coaches. Liaise with the Goalkeeper Coach regarding the development of the group goalkeepers.
2. Administration Develop an annual plan for the development of players based on holistic development. Coordinate and administer the Academy policies as defined by ownership. Prepare player assessments as required and scheduled.
3. Customer Service and Relations Support the quality of the Academy services, ensuring maximum membership satisfaction. Support all Academy programs and initiatives. Communicate with age group parents throughout the program. Participate in outside activities that are judged as appropriate and approved by Manager.
Experience & Qualifications Ontario Soccer age-appropriate coaching certification of Learn to Train or Fundamentals suitable for the age group Special consideration to applicants with the C License Completed or willing to complete - Making Ethical Decisions Training and Evaluation, Making Headway, Respect in Sport Activity Leader, Rule of Two, Emergency Action Plan, Safe Sport, Anti Racism in Coaching and Mental Health in Sport Up to date Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector 1-3 years of coaching experience in a U8-U12 environment
Skills and Competencies Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) skills. Ability to relate to children of this age. Ability to mentor an Assistant Coach in the environment. Understanding of holistic player development and the player development model. Understanding of Canada Soccer LTPD and how it effects player development Ability and desire to work within a team and a culture.
