Saints Foundation is an independent charity aligned to Southampton Football Club. Harnessing the passion of the Club and its fans we aim to inspire, support and deliver positive change and equality of opportunity for young people and adults at risk across Southampton and surrounding areas.
What is the role?
This role is responsible for planning, implementing and developing exercise classes for older adults as part of Saints Foundation’s Falls Prevention programme in line with national guidelines. The position will assist the Falls Coordinator to deliver against the objectives of Saints Foundation’s Falls Prevention Service as well as supporting projects under Saints Foundation’s ‘Health’ pillar of work. The role will enthuse staff and beneficiaries alike, creating opportunities to improve participants’ health outcomes and life choices, which will include working closely with the Falls Support Officer, Volunteers, and Minibus Drivers to ensure all elements of the programme meet the needs of the referred patients.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for undertaking functional measurements and devising appropriate programmes of physical activity, while ensuring that the programmes are progressive and reflective of the needs of the clients in line with health and safety standards. You will also devise realistic goals for patients, monitor and evaluate progression whilst continually motivating to increase adherence to the exercise programme.
You will be working with the Health Project team by supporting them to assess and interpret clinical information regarding referred patients whilst maintaining confidentiality and data protection, along with providing relevant data and session feedback to the Falls Coordinator to manage funding partner relationships with existing and future partners.

It is desirable that the successful candidate has a good understanding of the key Health Wellbeing services in Southampton and be able to signpost service users accordingly.
You will have good communication and organisation skills with a confident and outgoing personality and positive attitude.
The successful candidate will be comfortable with motivating, supporting and reassuring patients in relation to physical activity and health, whilst being considerate of and understanding barriers to change.
Essential Qualifications (including certifications):
Minimum level 3 CIMSPA recognised health and fitness qualification/special populations.
Essential Experience:
Educated to degree level or have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the industry sector.
A knowledge of ME programmes relevant to the industry sector.
A strong knowledge of community engagement programmes specifically tailored to the provision of Health Wellbeing.
Desirable Qualifications (including certifications):
Level 4 PSI qualification
Desirable Experience:
Knowledge of PLCF and PLPFA funded projects.
Experience in Line Management of volunteers and casual staff members.
Have a good understanding of the key Health Wellbeing services in Southampton and be able to signpost service users accordingly.
Ability to engage with hard to reach groups.
