The Purpose:  

Manchester United Foundation believes every young person should feel empowered to achieve their goals and uses the power of football and Manchester United to support young people to make positive choices in their live.

In partnership with the Growth Company, we aim to use the power of Manchester United Foundation and Club to engage, inspire and progress young people in selected partner High Schools closer to employment​ through connecting them with a range of relevant opportunities provided by the Growth Company and Manchester United.

The Role:

Key principles of the role are to:

Engage young people with a range of bespoke training programmes that enhances their skills and personal attributes.​
Provide information, positive experiences, and employment opportunities for young people.
Continually develop and embed the soft skills needed for work and everyday life
Connect Manchester United into other opportunities at the Growth Company
Connect The Growth Company into other opportunities at Manchester United Foundation
Work with other departments in the Foundation to share knowledge, resources and ensure we are developing programmes.

Skilled and Employment Ready Young People from areas of deprivation.

Improved positive engagement with education, employment and training

Progression into new education, training or employment pathways

Outputs of the Role:

Work with 20 partner high schools per annum
Market the Growth Company summer programme

Identify 300 learners for the NEET contract and put them forward to work with the key worker.

The Person

Understanding of Safeguarding best practice
Knowledge of implementing policies and procedures especially health and safety and risk assessments.

Role Specific:


National Curriculum and Ofsted Framework within schools and colleges
Barriers and challenges young people experience from deprived areas.


Minimum of two years practical experience of working with young people preferably within a community or educational environment.
Working with learners with an EHCP
Inspiring and developing staff.
Scoping, delivering, and evaluating a range of programmes.
Leading and managing projects.
Raising the profile of a programme and becoming a thought leader/influencer.


Connect and inspire with hard-to-reach young people.
Mentoring or pastoral experience within young people.
Ability to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders to achieve strategic and contractual objectives.
Organisational and communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
Think strategically in the context of, and alignment with, wider existing objectives and partnerships.
Financial Management (Planning, organising, directing, and controlling financial activities).
Ability to capture the success and report on the impact of your work.
Technology aware and digitally proficient
Ability to assess individuals in order to establish any specific needs or support.


A full UK driving licence with access to own car for business use.
Strong functional skills in Mathematics and English
Educated to degree, HND level or A level equivalent (Desirable)
