To deliver an efficient, high quality, modern and effective Employee Relations service to Manchester United Football Club and its subsidiary companies. To provide a professional level of ER advice and guidance to all levels of staff, ensuring a fair and consistent approach/application throughout the company that is both in line with the Club values whilst being commercially aware. The successful candidate will also need to maintain active and effective links with a range of stakeholders to ensure the ER provision is innovative in its solutions with associated risks identified and considered.
To actively support and provide advice and guidance to management in the company on all employee relation related items; disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence management (short and long term), flexible working requests, maternity, paternity, parental leave etc. ensuring this is completed in line with the HR model of Line ownership
To act as a point of contact to staff and Management throughout the Club ensuring that all ER queries are dealt with promptly, courteously and in a manner that aids the efficient operation of the Club
To have a clear understanding of risk and the press-sensitive nature of the Club and any actions taken regarding ER cases in relation to this. Recognise when to raise any concerns and risks to the Head of People Services
Have detailed knowledge of Employment Law, working closely with the Clubs Employment Law partners where appropriate
Liaise with the Safeguarding Team regarding any safeguarding issues as applicable
Advise, train and coach Line Managers in the effective application of HR policies and procedures to enable them to understand and deliver good people management practices and ensuring consistent and fair decisions
Develop Line Manager technical skills, knowledge and confidence to enable them to lead in all areas of people management activity, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance management
Create and maintain reports and contribute to departmental KPIs as necessary
Work with HR Systems and MI Lead to alert HRBPs on ER risks by gathering and analysing relevant data
Liaise with People Services team to ensure that all relevant administration tasks are carried out efficiently, effectively and on time
Work closely with Payroll to ensure effective working relationships and accurate, timely information provided to colleagues and payments made where necessary
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to GDPR at all times
Support ad hoc projects as agreed by the Head of People Services
Qualified to CIPD level or equivalent with post qualification experience
A good working knowledge of employment law and ACAS guidelines relating to the entire employment lifecycle
Previous experience using a dedicated HR system
Good knowledge of current/future employment legislation
Experience managing volume ER cases in a diverse fast paced organisation (disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, flexible working requests and tribunal case management)
Able to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels
Strong planning, time management and organisational skills
A strong customer service orientation and responsiveness to work, with a solution mindset, whilst maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentially with each interaction
Flexible, adaptable and able to multi-task with a strong work ethic
Goal oriented with high commitment, resilience and a positive attitude
Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills, teamwork, and networking abilities
Ability to drive and influence change amongst key stakeholders
Proficient in Microsoft Office
