Northampton Town FC Community Trust is a pioneering charity that uses the unique appeal of Northampton Town Football Club to deliver activities that connect our communities and improve people’s lives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate, enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team in the schools department as an Education and Sport Mentor.

Job Purpose:

Working in Primary and Secondary schools across Northamptonshire, you will inspire, engage and support young people to achieve their potential. Using the unique appeal of the football club and sport, you will deliver the NTFC CT schools’ provision and the Premier League Primary Stars programme. This will include delivery of classroom-based support in literacy and numeracy, healthy lifestyles/PSHE sessions, physical activity lessons in groups or one to one, girls’ football, disability football, targeted behaviour interventions and extra-curricular activities in football and multi-skills. You will be passionate about improving the lives of young people using sport as a vehicle to break down barriers.

This role is exciting and fast paced with no two days being the same. You will be embedded within the same partner schools across the full academic year to develop relationships and measure the impact you make.

Main Tasks:

Upholding and delivering to the purpose, values and mission of NTFC Community Trust, particularly in relation to the delivery of the schools’ programme.
Delivering one to one, small group and targeted sessions to support pupils learning.
Delivering structured and high-quality weekly physical activity, sports coaching, and enrichment activities for school children.
Delivering classroom based PSHE interventions and activities.
Delivering structured, high quality activities as part of the Premier League Primary Stars Programme that support children to improve their confidence and skills in a classroom-based environment.
Create a learning environment that is inspiring, dynamic, challenging and educational.
To create and implement innovative and age-appropriate social action projects across various themes.
Continuing to add to the production of our ongoing coaching resource bank and planning weekly session plans to a high standard in line with National Curriculum requirements.
To evidence your impact using the NTFC CT impact measurement tools.
To develop and maintain positive relationships with school staff.
Maintaining administrative records for all sessions and supporting with the collection of participant case studies and data to be used in end of year school impact reports including uploading to VIEWS.
Ensuring safety for all participants by undertaking health and safety checks before each activity and adopting the Trust’s safeguarding procedures.
Promoting participants into further NTFC CT programmes.
To support with expanding the number of primary and secondary schools through high quality delivery and the development of positive relationships with schools.
Completing all other tasks as requested by NTFC CT’s Senior Management Team.
Person Specification Description

Essential Qualifications

National Governing Body Level 1 qualification or above.
Current First Aid Qualification (or willingness to update)
Current Safeguarding Qualification - Level 1 or above (or willingness to update)
Full driving license and the use of a vehicle.
Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above.
Desirable Qualifications

Mental Health First Aider Qualification – Youth
Level 3 Certificate in Supporting PE and School Sport.
Essential Knowledge and Experience

At least one year’s experience of working with children or young people aged 5 - 16yrs within a sport and or educational setting.
Knowledge of PE and the National Curriculum and experience of delivering PE lessons according to its guidelines.
A clear understanding and knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
Competent with the use of IT and IT based systems.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience

Experience working or delivering activities within a classroom setting
Have experience working with young people with challenging behaviour.
Experience of encouraging, motivating and enthusing young people to participate in activity.

Excellent time management skills
Persuasively communicates with others in an open, clear, concise and purposeful way to build effective relationships and gain support and ‘buy in’ for ideas.
Excellent level of ICT literacy with knowledge of Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.
Seeks out opportunities to develop and improve self and others for the benefit of the Community Trust.
To be a positive role model to participants promoting a positive ethos
Ability to engage with people of all backgrounds.
Ability to lead a structured coaching programme working with children of a range of abilities.
Self-motivated and the ability to work on own initiative.
