ABOUT THIS ROLEThe Director of Sports Programming and Head of Lacrosse will create and manage all non-soccer sports programs, including but not limited to lacrosse, field hockey, flag football, basketball, volleyball and pickleball held at the brand new, state-of-the-art $70 million WSFS Bank Sportsplex. The 170,000 sq. ft, 32-acre sports and recreation complex is located next to Subaru Park, home of the Philadelphia Union and owned by Union Sports and Entertainment. The role is expected to have a heavy emphasis on developing men’s and women’s lacrosse programming ranging from skills, drills, camps, clinics, leagues, tournaments and beyond. This is a highly entrepreneurial position that demands a thorough understanding of the youth sports landscape and is excited to grow and run programming for various sports verticals. The Director of Sports Programming will have P&L responsibility for sports verticals and will create, schedule, plan, and execute events while managing coaches and operations staff. The ideal candidate will have and create partnerships and networks in youth sports (from teams, leagues, coaches, high schools, etc.) and foster an environment for athletes to accelerate their development in sports at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex. https://www.wsfsbanksportsplex.comRESPONSIBILITIESCreate, plan, schedule and manage all non-soccer sports programs held at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.Establish a lacrosse programming strategy which includes working with entities such as the PLL and youth clubs in the Philadelphia region.Develop the business plan for each sports vertical and determine a go to market strategy incorporating various forms of programming including camps, skills and drills, leagues, tourneys, and possibly teams. Create programming for athletes of all skill levels to accelerate and maximize their development. Generate ways to maximize the 9000 sq. ft. strength and conditioning/performance center located in the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.Hire and communicate with coaches, referees, and facility managers.Assign and manage program staff.Work with operations, marketing and administration staff for event promotion, registration and event execution. Work onsite at the WSFS Bank Sportsplex to implement programs and events.Maintain a P&L for all programming.Position reports to the General Manager of the WSFS Bank Sportsplex.QUALIFICATIONS3-5 years of experience in the youth sports industry and/or relevant industry preferred.Prior sports programming experience at a sports facility highly encouraged. Strong background in coaching lacrosse or field hockey.Ability to create detailed and accurate business plans for each sports vertical with a high degree of understanding of revenue and expense management. Very strong business development skills. Entrepreneurialism!
