JOB TITLE: Director of Performance
RESPONSIBLE TO: Head Coach, President of Soccer/GM
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Performance Staff
Overview
The Head of Performance will manage individual and team physical preparation, providing data-driven insights to support medical, performance, and technical departments. This role collaborates closely with the Medical Director to ensure optimal player support and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Sports Science:
Supervise the Sport Scientist and manage GPS equipment.
Monitor player sessions using GPS and provide feedback.
Produce reports on player loading and injury progress.
Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports on team/player loading, including reports to the medical staff on progress of injured players during Return to Play process using GPS/Wellness/Performance data.
Strength & Conditioning
Lead strength and conditioning sessions and design programs.
Collaborate on injury rehabilitation and oversee nutrition support.
Match Day
Advise on physical loading plans and manage player conditions.
Manage in-game physical condition of players, before, during and after match.
Ensure match day GPS and reports are prepared.
Administrative
Provide feedback to management, analyze wellness and performance data.
Monitor player physiological testing and communicate with international federations.
Lead communication to all international soccer federations regarding club players physical health, wellness, and availability prior to release from club environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in high-performance sports setting.
Strong understanding of sports science methodologies and injury prevention strategies.
Required Skills
Proficient in Athlete Management Systems.
Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Experience leading elements of the Return to Play process, and planning of short/long term injury return process in collaboration with medical department
Strong interpersonal, time management, and leadership skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel.
Desired Skills
Advanced certifications (CPR/AED/First Aid, CSCS, Functional Movement Systems, etc.).
Experience with Return to Play processes.
Previous coaching experience with professional soccer players in multiple settings (on field, gym, team setting, and individual).
Knowledge of current trends and technologies in sports science.
