Role description

International Surrey Football (ISF) is a county representative football organisation founded in 2014, and debuted its men’s team in 2018. The team has gone on to host a number of fixtures against a variety of opposition including clubs, charity teams, county FA representative teams and non-FIFA international sides.
International Surrey Football has seen a consistent year-on-year growth expanding the number of games played, partners it works with and the scale of events held. International Surrey Football is seeking a self-motivated individual to bring fresh ideas to the table to oversee this continued growth as Surrey seeks to play a more consistent fixture schedule each season. This would involve Surrey playing 3 friendly during the club season, against representative sides or local club opposition, before a post-season friendly and culminating in a 4-team weekend mini-tournament in May each year. There would then also be opportunities to compete in other fixtures, including friendlies and tournaments such as the WUFA Men’s World Unity Cup, participating of these would be handled in a case by case basis, following consultation of potential expenses and availability of players and coaching staff.
The role of Director of Men’s Football will see a successful candidate make the necessary arrangements for each senior men’s game, this would include booking venues, match officials and liaising with opposition. A candidate would be responsible for making sure each aspect of matchday preparations arrive at a given venue, including all kit and equipment (which is shared with Surrey’s senior women’s programme). This can be done by themselves or delegated to others, opportunities to bring others on board to manage aspects of the role on a voluntary basis will be available. The Director of Men’s Football will be expected to work with the Commercial Director to agree all matchday expenses before payments are made to ensure fixtures are financially self-sustaining or profitable to ensure Surrey’s ability for continued growth.
The Director of Men’s Football would work with the senior men’s manager to find suitable dates and venues for each home date based on a number of factors including availability, suitability and accessibility. International Surrey Football have previously played at St. Pauls Sports ground in Rotherhithe, Moatside in Merstham, Merrist Wood College near Guildford, Woking College and Meadowbank in Dorking, and where possible Surrey should seek to reuse facilities to help build bonds with local clubs and help make International Surrey Football part of the county-wide football community, this may also include creating new connections with clubs, which could increase possible options for venues for friendlies, and also tournaments such as the WUFA World Series.
This role will require some level of experience in managing team operations, similar to a club secretary role. A successful candidate must have a healthy level of experience or understanding of the following;
• Event organisational and management skills,• Liaising and communicating with a large number of individuals,• Capable of working under deadlines and timescales set out by others,• Capable of seeking out and supporting the recruitment of new individuals to support the senior men’s programme and International Surrey Football as a whole.• Capable of liaising with others to complete tasks and ensure arrangements come together on match day,• Knowledge and understanding of the structure and programmes of WUFA, non-FIFA football and International Surrey Football,• Strong written and oral communications, public/media relations and events expertise. Brings a charismatic presence, comfortable with public speaking representing ISF’s senior men’s programme,
