Responsibilities



Contribute to the SPL’s Strategic Vision, focused on Physical Performance and Fitness of players
Collaborate with Directors of ‘Technical Development’ and ‘Physical Rehabilitation’ to ensure comprehensive and coherent design of player performance program; using a player-centered approach
Direct standards and procedures to optimize the infrastructure, facilities, and delivery of physical training across SPL clubs. Drive standards to World Class, this should include:
team training guidelines and periodization models
strength training and adaptation in relation to on-field/match demands
Player workload management and training schedules
Recovery protocols
Injury risk reduction protocols
Development of fitness-based Rehabilitation protocols and return to performance frameworks
Nutritional guidelines
Build and maintain strong relationships with SPL clubs to facilitate collaboration on projects and individual player development plans.
Work in collaboration with SPL club coaches and Performance Teams to review, and improve where possible, the delivery of day-to-day physical processes
Collaborate with ‘Licensing’ department to direct an auditable framework of ‘Physical Performance Excellence’ for clubs to adhere to. Including but not limited to:


levels and qualifications.
processes of delivery.
professional development.
clubs by directing a professional development model to ensure all practitioners working within SPL are continually trained in order to achieve world leading standards across each club.
evidence-based literature reviews/analysis to support a way of working at league-level and club-level
and direct a standardized, development focused physical testing model for identified elite talents.
data to continually assess the physical performance profile of the SPL and its teams, and report on what that means for teams and players when competing internationally.






Qualifications:



Advanced degree in exercise science, sport rehabilitation, sport science, or a related field
Certification from recognized fitness organization is preferred
Experience and track record in athletic development at elite football club, federation, league, or other relevant entity
Experience working with elite football players and extensive understanding of their fitness needs
Demonstrated success in improving player fitness, performance, and injury prevention in previous roles
Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, fitness metrics, and injury trends to tailor fitness programs accordingly
Excellent communication skills and ability to manage interactions with a broad range of stakeholders at league-level, club-level, and the broader football ecosystem
