U.S. Soccer is looking for a highly motivated Director of Corporate Communications as part of our External Relations practice. The Communications team tells the story of how U.S. Soccer empowers the broader soccer ecosystem. The team is collaborative and touches every corner of the business. This individual will be responsible for driving an integrated strategy for business, financial, reputational, corporate, stakeholder, internal, and executive communications.
The Director, Corporate Communications will also work closely with U.S. Soccer Corporate Partnership, Membership, and senior executives by providing brand updates, communicating new initiatives and media plans as well as act as a thought-partner for packaging opportunities.
Reporting into the Chief Communications Officer and working closely with multiple stakeholders across the organization, the Director of Corporate Communications, this person needs to be creative and curious, process driven, organized, and relationship-oriented and have an ability to think and plan strategically in collaboration with others.
Primary Responsibilities
Oversee the Corporate Communications function, leading a team that will be responsible for shaping U.S. Soccer narrative and proactively telling the stories of the Federation, our members, and all relevant stakeholders.
Oversee the development and execution of innovative, authentic communications programs for our most senior leaders.
Develop communications campaigns that tell the story of positive impact on behalf of our stakeholders and serve to protect and enhance the reputation of the Federation.
Work closely with and provide counsel to key cross-functional stakeholders, particularly at the executive level and within our Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, Membership, and broader External Relations.
Create presentations showcasing opportunities including estimated reach, distribution plan, and alignment with partner goals and objectives.
Work closely with Partnership Marketing, Marketing, Content, Social and Brand teams to support partner objectives.

This role will require expertise in communications, media relations, narrative development, and issues management
Ability to take a compelling vision and operationalize it using a campaign mindset
You possess excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines
Maintain a good sense of humor
Minimum Qualifications
7+ years of relevant experience
Passion for creativity, storytelling, and elevating brands through communications
Strong understanding of communications, the advantages of different distribution strategies and platforms
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to navigate complex projects on varying timelines
Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Able to work out of U.S. Soccer headquarters in Chicago, Illinois
Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings and holidays as needed
