Role description

The Digital Content Producer will play a critical role in helping tell the “story” of the organization, across all clubs, and club functions. The role will be responsible for generating dynamic content across all club communication platforms, with the aim of deepening engagement with our core supporters AND developing/reaching new fans.  The position will work closely with the team’s Marketing, Soccer Operations, and Communications departments while reporting directly to the VP of Brand Marketing to set monthly, quarterly and annual objectives, and their execution. Duties
Serve as a content lead producer and primary club-specific voice in covering the Timbers and Thorns
Conceive, strategize write and produce team coverage stories and features for use on digital and social media platforms
Produce and oversee team coverage plans, schedule and planning
Strategize and lead long-term content planning alongside editorial content group
Lead weekly editorial meetings with key stakeholders from digital, social, video, communications and other departments
Be comfortable on camera and serving as a host for video interviews, podcast interviews, etc.
Build out content measurement and analytics to measure important metrics
Recruit, manage and help oversee special writers and content creators as needed
Work alongside and collaborate with overall content stakeholders across the club including digital, social, marketing, communications, video, community, partnerships, etc.
Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and technologies in sport, soccer and content
 Requirements-          Bachelor’s degree or higher-          Accomplished writer and/or editorial multimedia content creator with 7+ years’ experience in content, agency, journalism/broadcast or sports environment-          Able to understand and handle web and digital CMS site production and presentation tools-          Deep knowledge of soccer – both men’s and women’s – with a passion for MLS and the NWSL-          Supreme written and communication skills-          Ability to edit the written word with clarity and style-          Skills in Adobe CC and other multimedia programs and applications a plus-          Available to travel as necessary-          Ability to work nights, weekends and occasional holidays The Portland Timbers enter their eleventh season in Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2022. As the league’s 18th team that began competing in MLS in 2011, the Timbers play their home games at Providence Park, an approximately 25,000-seat stadium in downtown Portland. The Timbers, who won their first MLS Cup in 2015, have sold out every league home game since joining MLS.  The Portland Thorns will celebrate their 10th season in 2022.
