Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)
The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer. Impacting more than 200 communities across the USA, the USL is the first and only soccer organization in the USA to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem. That structure includes three professional leagues: USL Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Position Purpose
The Communications Coordinator - Women Pathway, helps to create content, generate publicity, craft messaging and maintain standards across the USL women leagues: the USL Super League (professional) and USL W League (pre-professional).

The Communications Coordinator - Women Pathway, drafts, edits, and publishes press releases and web articles, while being a point of contact with our women clubs. This person participates in ideation, strategy, planning and execution across all USL properties and helps the department maximize PR tools and subscriptions, including media tracking. This position works directly with many other departments in the USL organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

Develop and cultivate positive, productive relationships with all internal stakeholders at the league and club level.
Draft, edit, proofread and publish press releases and web articles related to the USL women leagues.
Serve as a primary contact for club and media inquiries about the women leagues and serve as a secondary contact for media inquiries about the women's pathway.
Jointly maintain the publicity calendar for the women pathway, working with members of the Communications, Operations, Partnerships, Social and Digital Services groups.
Act as a liaison between USL Communications and clubs in the USL Super League and USL W League, including expansion teams.
Assist in the creation and execution of a biweekly fan-facing newsletter.
Assist with media tracking and coverage analysis, utilizing PR tools and subscriptions.
Support and assist with organizational PR strategy and execution for USL women pathway and contribute to ideation, strategy, planning and execution across all USL properties.
Manage media lists targeted specifically to maximize coverage of the USL women's leagues.
Create and share internal communications with clubs to ensure consistent messaging across league and club channels and spokespeople. Inform and prepare clubs for USL Communications announcements.
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


Bachelor degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred and/or equivalent professional work experience.
1-2 year(s) of work experience in related field and/or training.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a collaborative, team-first approach.
Excellent communication skills, with exceptional proficiencies in writing and editing.
Previous editorial experience preferred.
Solid computer skills, including working knowledge of a CMS, comfort with MS Office and the Adobe suite.
Functional knowledge of soccer is preferred.
Spanish language skills a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and media members.
Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
Passion for working in professional sports, which includes weekend and evening hours.
Must have U.S. work authorization.

Work Environment
Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork.

Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.

Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
