It has an unrivalled record of producing many young International players of all ages who understand the core values and levels of discipline required in order to progress through the club.

Arsenal Women FC are looking for a highly motivated Strength & Conditioning Coach to support the physical development of the Academy players, forming part of a forward thinking multi-disciplinary support team.

To provide S&C support and cover across the Academy age groups from U9s - U21s.The successful candidate will also assist in developing and delivering an elite Strength & Conditioning programme across the Arsenal Women's Academy.

The successful candidate will help implement 1st team philosophies and standards to the Academy youth players (ages from U9 - U21) by supporting the physical performance programme as and when required. The role will include delivery of S&C provision to age group squads and individuals at training sessions and supporting academy games when required.

The person will apply scientific principles and techniques with the aim of improving sporting performance, incorporating areas such as physiology, psychology, strength, speed, power, endurance, motor control and biomechanics and including nutrition and diet, sports technology, anthropometry, functional competence assessments and performance analysis where possible.

The post holder will report to the Academy Manager on a consultancy basis and requires a minimum commitment of two/three training days/evenings with the academy and match days as required.


To lead on the development of weekly and season long training plans.
To lead on the delivery of weekly gym-based or field based sessions at one of our training sites.
Oversee on the monitoring of player workload, wellness and readiness.
To assist on the collecting and inputting of information to the player profiles
To complete and screening and testing of players and monitor/record/analyse all data
To lead on the coaching of individualised S&C sessions and small group work
To lead on the coaching of individualised functional corrective programmes.
To work with other members of the Coaching, Medical and Performance team to provide a holistic approach to training provision and prevention of injury.
Liaise with international teams with regards to player 's physical programmes and loading.
Further responsibilities:

To contribute to the team's internal continuous professional development.
To maintain Arsenal Football Club's Safeguarding, Health, Safety and Equal Opportunity procedures as practice.
To adhere to a strict code of confidentiality in respect of any information relating to Arsenal Football Club, Arsenal Women Football Club and its operation.
To be present at all required training sessions and some matches.
To undertake any other duties as seen appropriate by the Academy Manager.


BSc in Sports Science or a related field.
Hold either a UK Strength and Conditioning accreditation (UKSA) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) (NSCA)
Broad knowledge of subject area and contemporary issues
Up to date FA Safeguarding Certificate (Required if successful)
Hold the FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) qualification

Working towards or completed MSc Strength and Conditioning or postgraduate related
Has other recognised S&C related qualifications (NSCA/BWLA/FA Level 3)
Is a BASES Accredited Sports Scientist
Specific Experience:

Experience of working with elite performers (Experience working with female performers is desirable)
Experience of co-ordinating and delivering physical development programmes.
Experience of working with Youth athletes (U9-U21).
It is preferred that the candidate has some football coaching experience.

An ability to produce verbal and written reports.
Excellent use of excel to monitor, track and analyse data
Ability to educate, advise and motivate individuals.
A willingness to work flexibly.
A proactive approach within agreed boundaries.
A strong desire to work as part of a team and to put the team's needs ahead of your own.
Highly motivated self-starter.
Understanding of Health and Safety and its application to a sporting environment.
Energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to enthuse and inspire elite players.
Evidence of sound administrative, organisational and prioritisation skills.
Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a self-declaration and an enhanced CRB check.
The successful applicant will be required to attend The FA Safeguarding Children in Football Workshop and other appropriate CPD events.
Hours of Work:

The role requires the post holder to be available for 2-3 sessions per week and be flexible working hours across the Academy programmes. Attendance at evening Academy training sessions, some daytime training sessions and games will be required.
