About the job
We are CD Castellón, a historic Spanish soccer club that competes in the 3rd division of Spanish soccer, Primera RFEF. Our B team is a vital part of our future success and is the key environment where potential is transformed into first team performance. Our B team competes in Tercera, the 5th tier.


The club proudly celebrated our centenary in 2022 and in parallel, under new owner Bob Voulgaris, have set out ambitious plans for our future as a La Liga team. Last season, the first under our new leadership, the first team reached the final play-off game and were 35 minutes from promotion. The B team, despite limited resources, maintained its place in Tercera and we have since invested to enable the team to thrive and progress. We plan to succeed as a club by boldly embracing innovative and disruptive ways of working that create competitive advantages while honouring our storied past. And consequently, we look for talent that shares our passion, values and vision.


To help achieve this, we are seeking to appoint a B Team Physical Performance Coach to work in our Physical Performance and Nutrition department to support the development of elite levels of fitness and nutrition to the Castellon B team and the club.



We are looking for a skilful practitioner who enjoys both individual and group work and is excited about the challenge of defining new approaches and standards in our club.



Main responsibilities

Lead the operational delivery of an excellent physical performance and nutrition service to the B team which creates a tangible competitive advantage for the team.
Monitor the development of physical performance elements of the B team player profile which are used in recruitment.
Lead the delivery of physical performance coaching to the B team including all on field and off field components for training and matches including: delivery of daily individual programmes, pre-activation sessions and post-training conditioning session, delivery of rehabilitation sessions, delivery of training and match day warm ups, design and delivery of strength and power development programmes for the first team.
Support the process of performance planning for the B team, coordinating the input of other departments to produce comprehensive weekly, monthly and yearly plans to optimize performance.
Lead the implementation of an appropriate nutrition plan for the B team.
Lead in the design and maintenance of physical performance databases, as well as processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data collected.
Contribute to the development of appropriate KPI’s and metrics which allow the monitoring and tracking of individual and team physical performance.
Oversee the collection of GPS and associated data including the preparation and reporting of training and match reports to enable enhanced planning and periodisation of individual and team training.
Lead the design and implementation of category leading recovery and recuperation programmes which are evidence led, and periodised to meet changing physical and psychological needs of players.
Support the implementation of the physical and nutritional components of individual development plans for all players as part of a multi-disciplinary process which is reviewed and updated every 6 weeks.
Close working relationships with coaches and support staff to ensure a cohesive multi-disciplinary approach at all times.
Contribute to the definition and ongoing evolution of a comprehensive Physical performance and nutrition “DNA” for the club to enable the development of detailed operating intellectual property and a detailed set of standard operating procedures.


Requirements

Essential
A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in sports science or a related discipline - recognised in Spain (CAFYD)
>3 years experience in delivering physical performance coaching in elite sport
High level of competency in coaching and motivating individual players
High standards of punctuality, appearance, and manner.
Extremely organised, proactive and execute duties in a professional and conscientious manner.


Desirable
UEFA B coaching licence
Relevant professional body accreditation (e.g. UKSCA, BASES, NSCA CSCS)
Master’s degree or higher in sports science or related discipline
Experience in international or club football

Excellence and quality in their work, delivering and driving the highest standards in physical performance and nutrition and continually seeking ways to improve performance and service to the player and the Club.
Creating solutions by identifying various options and analysing problems from a variety of perspectives before determining the best solution and making a decision.


Languages: Spanish as a first or fluent language is essential, as is the ability to communicate to a B1 level in English
