The aim of the Arsenal Women FC's Academy is to develop excellent young female players from within its youth programme that have potential to play for our Women's 1st team
By placing players at the heart of the programme the aim is to develop and grow future 1st team players in an environment which is challenging, developing and inspirational.
Arsenal Women FC is looking for an experienced Lead Coach and youth developer to lead on the development of the pathway from u8-u14.
To lead on an effective coaching programme for players aged 8 to 16 years old in the Girls Youth Academy, delivering and developing performance pathways and plans, while creating an optimum environment for youth players to develop and grow.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the development of the Youth Development phase through support of the age group coaches with their planning, delivery and management of training sessions and match days, as well as supporting all players and their development through this phase.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in the development of youth players with the goal of creating the female 1st team players and international players of the future.

Responsible for overseeing the planning, delivering and reviewing of the coaching programme across the u8-u14 age groups.
To lead the technical delivery, recruitment and management of the Oaklands College programme.
Responsible for the line management of all the Youth Development Phase age group coaches to ensure high standards of coach delivery and to support the 360 degree holistic development of all players within the u8-u14 age groups.
Manage the day to day running of the u8-u14 age groups including players, parents and coaching teams.
Lead players and coaches to develop and coordinate all individual and team training sessions - To cater for the needs of the players both individually and collectively to maximize the potential of all our players in this age group.
Work closely with the Academy Performance Lead to support the delivery of physical, medical and psychology staff.
Actively seek out ways to improve the coaching programme and assist with the implementation and operation of these ideas, alongside the Academy Manager
Deliver an age specific technical curriculum and games programme
Deliver an age specific player review and Individual development model
To provide the Academy Manager with reports on all players following the performance review meetings to support the end of season process for all players.
To work closely with u21's head coach to manage the transition of high potential talent.
Work closely with the Talent ID team to identify, manage and recruitment the best talent within the appropriate range.

Further responsibilities

To educate all coaches, players and parents in regards to what is required to play at the highest level
To be familiar with the standards of players across the talent pathway in the Women's game
To help instil the correct club ethos and culture within the Academy
Be familiar with Safeguarding requirements as outlined in the Safeguarding Policy and comply with its requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
To work closely with the Academy Manager and Academy Operations Officer
The candidate should be flexible in regards to working hours
To be aware of the core values upon which Arsenal FC operates
To build relationships across departments of the club to improve the AWFC academy programme
To attend staff meetings and club CPD as required.
To be aware of current trends and best practice in Youth Development and the Women's game
Work with the Academy Manager to implement a programme of continuous professional development for all the Academy coaching team


Sport related degree or equivalent experience
UEFA B / FA Level 3 and working towards UEFA A Licence (A Licence is desirable)
FA Youth Award (Advanced Youth Award desirable)
Current FA Licensed Coaches Club Member
Up to date FA Emergency Aid Qualification - FA Basic First Aid for Sport Qualification (BFAS) or FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF)
Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current FA Safeguarding Children Workshop certificate
An accepted FA Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure (previously known as an FA CRB Disclosure)
Any education or teaching experience would also be desirable

Specific Experience:

Experience of coaching young players in the Youth Development Phase at an elite level
Experience of mentoring and developing other coaches as a mentor or coach educator
Experience of managing individuals and teams
Previous experience of devising long/medium/short term plans and developing individual player development programmes
It is preferable to have experience working with female elite players


Knowledge of the standard of players required at Arsenal Women FC and an understanding and knowledge of the overall Women's Talent Pathway in England
An understanding and implications of Long Term Player Development and how to develop young players
Able to work as part of a coaching team and the ability to motivate others
Able to build a strong rapport with the players in the age range
Ability to set realistic goals for the coaches and players within the age groups
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Motivated and driven individual
Commitment and passion for the game
A dynamic, confident communicator (verbal, written) whilst able to adapt style and approach as and when required
