Internship Description: The Athletic Training Student Internship consists of a full immersion in athletic training services for the Chicago Red Stars. The role involves pre- and post-training treatments, rehab programming and facilitation, training coverage, match day stretcher crew, and documentation. The Intern will not travel with the team but is expected to be present at all home matches. The student will work closely with professional athletes, carrying out daily athletic training services under the guidance of the Head and Assistant Athletic Trainers. The club expects the Intern to display their current skills while seeking opportunities to learn new skills. Clinical questions and discussions are encouraged. The Intern may have the opportunity to observe the team physician and physical therapist when on-site. The role requires the demonstration of professionalism, discretion, and maturity. The internship will serve toward clinical credit for a CAATE-accredited program.  Hours: The Internship schedule will follow the team schedule, which is subject to change at any time and requires flexible hours, including weekends and late nights. Time off will be permitted when the team is on break or traveling. The student can expect to work 30-35 hours per week on average. The supervisor will provide further details upon the release of the team schedule. Roles/Responsibilities:  ·         Under the supervision of their preceptor, the Intern will perform the following: ·         Pre- and post-training treatments ·         Rehab programming and facilitation ·         Evaluation and assessment of injury ·         Training and Match Day hydration and medical equipment set up/take down    ·         Match Day treatments  ·         Match Day stretcher crew  ·         Documentation of patient encounters in the electronic medical record  Qualifications:·         Enrolled in a CAATE-accredited program ·         CPR/BLS certified  ·         Pass a background check ·         Complete SafeSport training  ·         Strong ability to implement directions and exercise tact, discretion, and good judgment ·         Availability to work nights, weekends, and occasional holidays·         The internship is based in Bridgeview, IL.
