Job Purpose:This is a full time post to assist the Head Groundsperson in maintaining the stadium at Easter Road Stadium to the highest possible level.
Be an ambassador of Hibernian Football Club at all times, portraying a professional image throughout. Organise your daily workload to include routine and one off tasks. Undertake a wide range of sports turf culture activities and other general horticultural tasks, using specialist machinery were appropriate.
The role will include some evening, weekend, public holiday and matchday working at Easter Road Stadium.
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following duties to a high standard:
Planning/Reporting – Assist in the preparation and running of a programme of works set against the budget monitoring and reporting on any variations that may be required as a result of the information received from the periodic testing.
Pitch Maintenance – mowing, white lining, aeration, fertilising, verti-cutting, seeding, devoting, brushing and moving of pitch lighting. Planning and controlling contractors responsible for carrying out all sub-contracted pitch works.
Machinery Maintenance – keep and maintain in good condition, pressure washing, greasing pre use checks.
Pitch Lighting Rigs – assist in the control and safe operation of the Stadium Pitch Lighting rigs to sustain the pitch through the winter months, ensuring an even grass covering throughout.Trackside Maintenance – brushing, cleaning and keeping debris free ensuring a general level of cleanliness in and around the pitch and compound areas.
Pitch Testing – to ensure surface in safe and playable condition.
Adverse Weather – snow clearance and gritting of the stadium footprint to ensure a safe environment for visitors to the stadium.
To carry out matchday duties to provide a safe environment for the operation of a professional football match alongside the club’s safety team.
Assist in the control of the undersoil heating and irrigation systems, ensuring that any faults are reported and rectified timeously.
Ensuring that all pitch equipment is safe for use and is maintained so always available for use and suitable for use at the highest level of professional football.
To work with the General Maintenance Staff as and when required to assist in the general maintenance and upkeep of the stadium on items such as seating repair or painting.
To assist with and supervise the work of external contractors undertaking larger projects.
Report ALL defects to grounds, machinery, or buildings.
To always act in accordance with the Club’s rules, policies, procedures, and ethos.

Person Specification:
Essential:· Willing to work unsociable hours weekends and evenings when required.· Excellent time keeping, honesty and reliability.· The ability to work as part of a team and use own initiative.· Full and Valid UK Driving License· Safe use and operation of machinery.· Minimum 2 years’ experience working within industry.· Prepared to work in adverse weather conditions.· Committed and enthusiastic approach to work.
Preferred:· NVQ level 2 sports turf or equivalent.· Spraying certificates or working towards.· Experience working on winter sports pitches.· Relevant Health & Safety / First Aid Qualification
