POSITION SUMMARY:The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Athletic Trainer in managing the day-to-day sports medicine operations for the Club. In this capacity, the Assistant Athletic Trainer provides injury prevention strategies, evaluation, Treatment, and rehabilitation for Players' medical problems. The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the direction and supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer, and Club Chief Medical Officer.The Assistant Athletic Trainer should be able to assume the duties of the Head Athletic Trainer in the event the Head Athletic Trainer is unable to or at the discretion of the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Club Chief Medical Officer.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Working in collaboration with the Medical Staff and under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer.Manages the healthcare of Players including, but not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, development of rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referralsMaintain a complete and up to date roster of Player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record (EMR) system (ARMS)Order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipmentKeep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organizedHelp the Club Medical Staff regarding all aspects of Player's health and safetyComply with all MLS medical policies and protocolsComply with OSHA standards with regards to blood borne pathogensAttend all activities/ meetings/programs as required by Major League SoccerPerform other duties as assigned or requiredREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degreePreferred Master's degree in a health-related fieldMinimum of 2 years of experience in the field of athletic training (Soccer experience preferred)Lift and carry up to 50 pound equipment multiple times per dayMaintain a flexible schedule to allow commitment to all D.C. United home and away games, including some weekends, evenings, and some holidays to meet game/event needsYou must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination prior to start dateCOMPETENCIES (KSAs):Proactive, highly organized, and resourceful with great attention to detailProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); and ability to learn required business systemsMust have a strong command of reasoned, measured decisionMust be able to anticipate and identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption; solutions-based mindsetDemonstrate reliable self-confidence within one’s own medical professional scope of practice and the ability to identify situations of when to ask for appropriate helpAbility to multi-task, meet tight timelines, and work effectively in a high pressure and fast-paced environmentAbility to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential informationPossess outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management, staff, etc.LICENSES & CERTIFICATES:NATA Member recommendedBOC Certified Athletic TrainerIn good standing with BOCState License in the state in which the Club calls home (Virginia)CPR certification for Health Care Provider (BLS)Maintain personal professional liability insurancePreferred additional certifications: CSCS, CES, PES, LMT, and/or NREMTD.C.
