AFC Wimbledon Foundation is the award winning charity of AFC Wimbledon, a fans owned football club based at The Cherry Red Records Stadium, Wimbledon. The Foundation runs a comprehensive series of mostly sports related projects on sport, education, health and social inclusion for local communities across South West London under three key strands:
‘Grow’ – working with children aged 4 - 11 years to develop confidence, self – esteem and increase levels of physical activity.
‘Thrive’ – supporting teenagers and young adults to develop social, emotional and physical skills.
‘Boost’ – helping older adults to remain fit and active.
The Foundation helped the club achieve ‘ EFL Trust Community Club of the Year’ status in 2022 and works closely with other community partners linked to the club including the volunteer based Dons Local Action Group ( food poverty and IT) and Wimbledon in Sporting History, (heritage).
As a young charity formed in 2013 the Foundation has doubled its turnover and grown its full time and part time staff team over the last four years and is committed to continuing to expand and make as much impact as possible to support local people alongside the football club.
It is now looking for committed and enthusiastic individual to join its dedicated Board of Trustees to support its continued growth. Applicants should ideally have a level of legal expertise, experience and knowledge.
Most importantly we require a Trustee who support the vision, mission and values of the Foundation and are able to commit time, energy and thought to the role, working as a team player.
