Location: Training Ground - Jersey Road / Uxbridge School

Salary: Up to £35,000 + benefits

The Role of the Academy U9-16’s Sports Scientist
Reporting to the Lead Academy Sports Scientist (LASS) assist in the design, delivery and continual evaluation all areas of physical and athletic development within the Academy, specifically to the 9-16yrs age groups, adopting an age/training history specific approach.
Main Accountabilities
In conjunction with the LASS, assist in the creation and delivery of a Physical Development and Athletic Performance syllabus, with detailed provision for all players (9-16’s), including age group specific testing procedures and protocols
Lead the Academy strength and athletic development training for players aged 9-16yrs, individual and personalised where possible
Report on physical development status of all players for multi-disciplinary reviews
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including coaching and medical staff
Close involvement with the Academy individual development programme
Working alongside the Academy coaching and medical staff to ensure regular, age appropriate, performance testing is completed
Report and record player information and data on the PMA
Close involvement with all members of the Athletic Performance team to ensure continuity of player monitoring and performance plans between First team and senior Academy players
Work match-days with Academy teams and travel on specific tours throughout the year
Assist in the recruitment and leaderships of a group of part-time Sports Science staff to support Academy teams aged 9-16yrs
Work in conjunction with Brentford FC Research Centre whenever applicable
Have a knowledge of the Youth Development Rule and UEFA criteria, and ensure all relevant rules linking to the role are covered
Any other relevant tasks and duties as directed by senior Academy or Football Department management

Person Specification - Essential Characteristics
BSc in Sport and Exercise Science
FA EFAiF Qualification or equivalent
A good competence of communication and interpersonal skills
Experience of, and strong desire to work with junior athletes
Possess the ability to work on own their initiative and as part of a team
Be versatile to adapt to changing situations
Possess the drive and motivation to set high standards and achieve company objectives
Have a personable approach
Ability to communicate with footballers, coaches, management, parents and other football related individuals in a professional manner
Flexible and happy to work evenings and weekends.
Person Specification - Desirable Characteristics
MSc in sport science/strength and conditioning or working towards.
British Association of Sports and Exercise Sciences Accreditation or working towards
UKSCA Accreditation or working towards
Experience of working within professional team sport, not specifically football
Full UK driving license
