ROLE DESCRIPTION

Our Academy and Player Development Department is committed to the provision of an integrated, structured and pro-active approach to the management of player development with the aim of improving individual and team performance.
Primary Objective
to develop players to the standards set by the Academy Technical Committee and in accordance with the Academy’s philosophy, ethos and values and technical plan to achieve the defined objectives and outcomes
Reporting in the first instance to a FT Head of Phase Coach, you will be required to assist and support in all aspects of the technical and tactical development of players in an Academy Squad U11 – U16
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
As an ACADEMY SQUAD SUPPORT COACH
to support the squad lead coach as required on match day
to support the squad lead coach to deliver weekly coaching sessions for an Academy age group in line with the Technical Plan and drill/session plan in Sports Office
contribute to the setting of goals & objectives with players & parents and subsequent quarterly review assessments including formal sessions with players and parents
Contribute to the discussions for retention or release of players
as an ACADEMY TEAM member
to contribute to the ongoing review and continuous improvement of the Academy objectives, curriculum and technical plan based on assessment of achievement of objectives via training & match play. This includes the sourcing and proposal for inclusion in an online library of appropriate video examples of drills, techniques etc.
to embody and lead by example to staff and players the Academy’s Vision and Philosophy for the development of players
to work closely with the Talent ID & Recruitment department by facilitating the evaluation of prospects within the agreed evaluation process
to work closely with the Sports Science & Medicine and Education & Welfare Department to ensure that a players technical and physical development and wellbeing are given equal accord in the holistic development of the player
to assist other coaches/coaching teams as necessary within other age groups and/or squads where required
to participate in the Academy’s Staff Performance Appraisal system including noting the ongoing needs of your CPD
to adhere and comply at all times with the obligations placed on the Academy by its participation in the SFA Performance Academy programme
to adhere to the Academy’s Code of Conduct for coaches and all other applicable Club policies, including Health & Safety, Child Protection and Social Media, at all times
to update all Academy systems i.e. Sports office with the necessary information in accordance with the required timescales
to ensure the players are aware of what is expected of them at all times
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications (Essential): One of the following:
UEFA Pro License
UEFA A License
UEFA Elite Youth A License
Advanced Children’s License
Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential):
Proven coaching experience in youth development, particularly within a CAS Elite Academy.
Proven ability to construct, deliver, and review coaching sessions for elite players of all ages.
Ability to show flexibility and innovation in coaching methods to deliver individual improvement.
Highly skilled in communicating.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to adapt to the environment to motivate behavioral change and augment performance.
Evidence of recent CPD and a comprehensive CPD portfolio.
Technology (Essential):
Having a range of IT skills to a high level of competency.
Knowledge of football specific software is desirable.
